I didn't get past episode 1 despite loving the manga though so I can't confirm. 'That' meme aside, I actually really disliked the voices which was the final straw for me.

OPM was hugely popular even before it's adaptation. It had been shilled by otakus for ages. Madhouse didn't put it's A team on it because they were excited to animate a challenging adaptation. They put their A team on it because they were payed for a top tier adaptation.

Tsugumomo isn't really all that popular. I had hoped it would be adapted by White Fox or Xebec. I doubt their publisher would front the money for a OPM tier adaptation.

I don't like Kazuya's voice. Feels way too young.

We knew from the beginning this would be diffucult to do as an adaptation: amazing art and lewd are almost impossible to properly animate those days.
Also the first arc are really generic and episodic so I don't expect the anime to do well.
Also threads will be full of shitposting in the first episodes, then abandoned by everyone midseason because mangafags don't want shipost and if the don't have anything to discuss if adaptation is plain bad.

Tsugumomo's character anatomy has only gotten more realistic over the past several volumes in really weird ways. I didn't mind women looking like women, but the girls had a fantastic design approach that has since drastically changed and I don't like it. Also, Tsugumomo had really thick linework when it started that gave the direction a cartoony yet erotic charm. Now the simplicity and the thickness are all gone.

Why are people complaining? The manga art is pretty ugly. I know people think it's amazing since Yoshikadu is a good technical draftsman but he's not good at simplifying the figure. The anime has already improved on the forms and design. The fact of the matter is any anime studio these days is pretty decent. As long as there's some quality control it should be fine, but yeah I'm guessing it'll be pretty mediocre. But my main concern with the anime is that it looks boring as fuck based on what I've seen of the manga. Sorry fans but if this show flops it's because of the story and characters, not because of the animation (or because of bitching because bawww it's not manga art). The designs are fine, the heroine looks like a QT based on the trailer.
