Rumiko has been a household name since she started with Lum and got her contracts and deals decades before shit went sour. That's why despite Oda outselling her 10 - 1 at her peak to today she is richer because Oda didn't expect One Piece to snowball as much as it has while Rumiko stayed adamant she'd get a decent deal.

If she makes 10% of any deal while Oda gets 1% then they break roughly even.
