There's even more of a chance of it happening if she's still, deep down, in love with her Prince. The Prince of Eylstadt who probably wouldn't approve of his country being wiped off the map.

Heck there may have even been more to Eylstadt that she liked than just the Prince, like the scenery, or the common folk (although it may be a little late to introduce any of that).

It's not irrelevant. It's being consistent. He was betrayed so he turns against his country. Makes total sense. But now he's all "nah, I just do whatever it takes to stay alive, my country be damned." It feels like they're forcing this on him even though it wasn't built upon the situation he went through, just so they can give Sieg and easy foil. That's pretty lazy and cheap storytelling. It's also less meaningful from a thematic perspective.

I can kind of see the opposite scene playing in my head already.
Of course, she needs to be ina vulnerable position first, not having the upper (combat) hand anymore (which doesn't mean Izetta could kill her immediately either). That's the typical situation where the enemy is forced to listen and when frustration makes them emotional. A good enough speech from Izetta about Fine and Eyldstat (and maybe appealing to compassion) and Sophie is into a trip down the memory lane and what she loved most.

Incidentally, she's guaranteed to die, what with the clone instability and magic stone abuse. A final realization and smile right before her body breaks apart fits just perfectly.

Yes, Germania wants to show off the bomb (just like the USA), but no, they can’t just bomb countries into oblivion that have surrendered. It would make them look bad in a way that would severely hinder their base of negotiations. If you want to threaten people, you want them to believe that obeying you ensures their safety, not to make a point out of how much of an unpredictable psychopath you are. Even Madgayfuck Hitlerington knows that.
Should Eylstadt surrender (unconditionally so that Germania has no choice but to accept which admittedly might be a bad idea) they’d (again just like the real counterpart) have to choose a different country to bomb for their power demonstration. Hard to tell how hard that would be given how little we know about potential other conflicts going on, but I doubt it’d be more than a temporary inconvenience.
