HMV is pretty much the same. Will Yuri on Ice be the best seller of the year?
>Fujoshit is actually winning a season
Where the fuck did it go so wrong /a/?
>Will Yuri on Ice be the best seller of the year?
Can't wait to see /a/'s tears over how high it'll sell. They could at least convince themselves that Osomatsu San's sales were boosted by nostalgic normalfags, but they can't deny that this is pure fujo spending power.
What's with these extreme sales above 60k anyway? Did I always miss old threads with such hypes or is this a rather new thing (last ~4 years)?
Back then hits sold around 20-30k, very rarely 40k, but those were series people were talking about for a decade like Haruhi.
Massive outliers. Your usual BD audience can't sustain an anime for much more than a 10K average. If you can get a wider audience to buy BDs, your sales numbers increase dramatically.
LL Sunshine is actually doing a bit worse than Second Season. It'll probably end with an average cumulative of 60k~. YoI seems that it will surpass that because it's not just Vol1 doing well, so other volumes won't have a massive drop like Sunshine.
>YoI seems that it will surpass that
Fujos buy from other venues and also storefront. Succesful fujo shows always double their stalker estimates. Current estimates for Vol1 of YoI are around the 35k on Amazon only.
Nah, you should bow your head in shame for insisting on such delusions
Love Live IS gay
Go to tumblr right fucking now
Hit the Trending button
Not just for the anime section, im talking the fucking website.
You will see nothing but animal gifs and Yuri on ice
I have no fucking idea how this show cught on so well in the west when all the other yaoi shit the last 2 years didn't even make a dent in the sales charts
It's SAO and SnK levels bad
Not a proper Stalker thread. ABANDON.
>Love Live tanking
>only fujoshit series like Free, YoI, and SnK see any sort of success anymore
It's over, lads
You speak as if that's a bad thing
Stalker is going to show the same so what's the point
So Yuri on Ice is like crack for fujos or what? I have some friends that freak over that show and I don't really understand what's the big deal with it for people to react like that over a sport show
Gay is gay though
Dont back up on your post anon
Watch the first episode. Georgi is the best boy.
it's pretty great and they actually went full homo, unlike free! and other fujobait shows
>Where the fuck did it go so wrong /a/?
In the 80's
>the MC is a stripper and a sluts it up with a Swiss semen demon
How does it feel like, purityfags.
Everyone was still spending money on thei favorite shows, fujobait or not. The real problem is pic related.
By far the gayest shit i have ever seen
But you gotta hand it to them, the madmen finally figured it out
we were blessed with the best mc
It's a genuinely fun and heartwarming homo romance. There plenty of aspects of the writing and direction I could praise but in the end it just makes you feel really good and happy, there's a lot of romance, comedy and plot but it also feels like healing.
>it's bait, they'll never kiss
>w-well they'll never going get married
>they get engaged with marriage if MC places gold
>i-it's never going to be more than platonic!
Heh, just you wait until the morning after wedding night scene.
nope, hibike is still yuribait
>tfw the age of shitty fujoshit is upon us
The only light at the end of this dark, dark tunnel is a chance for more BL adaptations. Maybe we'll get that No Thank You OVA after all.
Hitorijime please don't fail me now.
This is wishful thinking. YoI will likely have a big ticket drop. It's also probably not as underestimated (but still underestimated) because of how popular its Amazon LE is. LL Sunshine vol 3 IS doing pretty poorly though, and volume 4 looks even worse, but vol 5, 6, and 7 might give it a boost because they're ticket volumes. I don't think YoI will have a higher average, but I think it'll do very well and 30k vol1 seems to be the minimum. Who knows what the maximum is.
You underage shows. Don't embarrass yourself any further.
its because yuri is actually a good character
Stop panicking holy shit. It's not going to outsell the likes of Madoka or LL.
And merchandise sales are many times more important anyways.
We get it fujo you can finde retards on youtube reacting to stuff
That sure is hard to find
>show reaches top5 for the first time less than a month before release
>OMG it's going to sell 100k guys!!!
It's going to have 30k average at best. At the very best.
Stop being delusional.
But normalfags did like Osomatsu though. It's a parody sequel to a kids show. I watched a couple of episodes and it was pretty cute. Unfortunately the whole series isn't translated.
Osomatsu-san is the obvious counter to this, because it's main audience (women) doesn't shop much on Amazon. Though, personally, I think 30k-60k vol 1 is most likely with an average of 25-40k. Still a huge hit, but people like to exaggerate.
So, 60k incoming? I wonder if it'll beat Osomatsu-san.
>muh disc sales
Industry changed. This shit no longer matters.
What matters is merch and chinese streaming.
>Youtube reaction video
Jesus christ, this is a new low. Fuck off.
On a side note, anime needs more MCs that do stupid shit like an actual adult.
The only thing that can save yuri is bonus character CDs.
The point of the "ranking" is shows that are more popular sell more discs. We don't have a merch ranking, but it's pretty easy to assume that merch and disc sales are correlated. Something isn't just going to sell a lot of blu rays and no merch and vise versa.
From what? Sunshine will still sell at least 2x more BD's. And 5 times more merch.
Which was a baseless rumour unless you have any evidence to prove otherwise.
That's what I'm saying. Late night anime should make more profit off of disc sales than mainstream ones.
Source? I do remember reading a couple of articles about yearly profit from anime franchises, including merch and everything, LoveLive was on top I think both years I think, even beating One Piece or SnK, but Madoka was nowhere to be seen in those top 50 lists I saw a few years ago.
You seem to be agitated. Here, I hope it helps.
Madoka aired in 2011. Obviously it's no longer doing that good.
Yuri fags are starting to shit up my Flip Flappers threads too
Why do faggots feel the need to come here and ruin the fun?
Don't they have boards made specifically for that?
I'm not really triggered, just disgusted.
And also I watch plenty of "fujo" aimed shows, like B-Pro or Tsukiuta last season or Magi-kyun this one, it's just that they were never nearly as gay as this one.
I came and came.
Tell me how they could get away with THIS one.
I mean, hypothetically it could sell. In reality it didn't because it didn't catch on, but there's lots of otaku and fujobait that don't sell- that doesn't mean they're inherently not the sort of anime people are willing to buy. Ping Pong is the sort of series that doesn't have the appeal necessary for sales.
How very mistaken. If you were indeed straight you would not feel bothered by a homosexual relationship in a cartoon. You seem rather confused about your sexuality, hence the repression and 'disgust'.
Japanese men (and women) can already get together with the same advantages as marriage in some japanese prefectures. They just aren't as showy as in the west.
This show appearing with this timing is only the result of a natural but discrete progression in the Japanese's minds.
I'm saying that blu rays selling and merch selling aren't two separate events. If you have a 70k average selling blu rays, you're going to make a shit ton of money on merch. If you can't sell 2k average blu rays, you're not making a lot of money on merch. That's why BDs and DVDs are combined in these "average discs sold" because they're a gauge of popularity not an actual judge of how much money something is making. (In fact, we don't see most of the blu ray discs that get sold because oricon has a cutoff limit and limitations of it's own like rentals.)
Same man, I just enjoy watching male bonding, romance sucks.
>I dropped a gay show because I'm straight
I'm straight too but this show is too fucking hilarious to drop. Every homo scene looked so over the top to me that I just couldn't take them seriously.
I've been living and working there for 15 years now. Hostesses from the gay and new half clubs around my shop come to buy their coffees and their lounge's snacks in the middle of the night every night and nobody even reacts to them even when they're clad in their evening dresses.
Nobody fucking care, everyone is too used to seeing visual kei fans in the streets. Not even speaking about the gyaru-o.
Nobody questions people's sexuality based on their looks or behavior here. Nobody gives a fuck.
That's why things can and are evolving smoothly.
I was considering watching this show but I guess I'll not.
I do not mind watching anime on a 50" screen, and I thought I didn't care about what my parents think of it, but I guess I was wrong, I definitely don't want anyone to see me watching this.
>tfw you start downing champagne glasses and when you wake up you're gay-married and starring in the best-selling show this season
On an unrelated note, can you pinpoint the exact date when the moderation on /a/ went to shit?
How the fuck are they the same? Trap doujins are basically the same as straight doujins, but with a dick. Really over the top and with extremely feminine males. BL doujins are a lot more about feelings, and when it's porn centered it's still miles tamer than trap ones. No indistinguishable female characteristics for the guys either.
It's basically porn accordin to
>A drunk man humps another man.
>A man asks another man and a teenage boy to take a photo of him nude to post online.
>The main character is seen lying in bed in only his boxers. Later another man is seen lying on top of him.
>The main character claims that another man's performance is so sexual 'it could make a man pregnant' by watching.
>In a scene, a man straddles another man while they listen to music for one of the character's performances. This is not sexual.
>A man grabs his own bottom in a sexual manner trying to seduce his audience.
>Durring a sequence, a drunk man removes his underwear and throws it on younger character's head.
RIP anime industry it's all going to be gay now that they know it'll sell
You faggots are super entertaining.
>>In a scene, a man straddles another man while they listen to music for one of the character's performances. This is not sexual.
>This is not sexual.
That actually made me chuckle
Why the fuck do you even care? This won't affect you, you're still going to keep getting all your other moe anime.
The only ones who're fucked are those in the same target demographic. Now all future fujo anime are going to be copying this shit for a while.
First idols and now this.
That's mad gay, yo
Like, I'm pretty sure that if they both dropped their pants and gave each other a blowjob for 30 minutes while having their hats on it still wouldn't be as gay as this.
The industry always follow a cycle on copying what seems to sell a lot of a couple of years until the market starts to shrink on that. Fujo are going through their era for now until it dries up and the industry move on to something else.
You sure showed him with your /v/-tier greentexting.
Merch is doing great. This show had nothing at first but they've been putting out new shit every week nonstop. They also had to schedule reruns of some lines like those creepy plushes and are outstocking magazines in hours.
No, forever. This is just another market to expand on, not one that will replace the other.
You won't even have to deal with a fraction of all the crappy shows that are about to come.
Wait what? So that's why all frogposters I reported in the past weeks were not deleted. /a/ truly is going to shit. Give it a couple of months and /a/ will become the second /r9k/.
>This is just another market to expand on, not one that will replace the other.
Considering KyoAni is publishing a gay archery LN I'm pretty confident they compared how Free did vs. the non-gay shit they've done recently and know which fanbase they'd like to pander to, and I'm sure other major studios did the same thing
Of course they did. See the glorious AD of 2015. You'd better learn how to enjoy sucking imaginary cocks of imaginary characters ASAP, just saying
you entitled fag.
Nice bait, newest novels after High Speed include vol2 of a battle harem, a new yuribait series, a gender agnostic novel, vol3 of a battle harem, romance with self insert protagonist, archery yaobait and gender agnostic novel vol2.
If you know it's bait, why do you even take the effort to write a serious reply? In a Stalker thread. Did you hit your head or something?
Can you fellow anons tell me what triggers /v/ the most?
>the H x H is still up
Holy shit. I first noticed it several hours ago. Abandon all hope.
The difference is that previous "overhyped shows that everyone and their mother watches" (BokuMachi, Re:zero) were also popular here and overall they are digestable by typical /a/non. YoI was fujobait from start so it was obvious that /a/non who likes cute girls won't even start watching it (like myself). Unfortunately it become relatively popular outside /a/ and cancer start coming to these threads and afterwards it spread onto whole board.
Gee, anon. /a/ has been telling me that anime is always made with the Japanese audience in mind first and foremost. Have I been lied to? I feel so betrayed.
I know. SJWs are annoying.
But they are easy money because they are dumb and gullible.
To be fair, no one expected gay skating anime to be popular. Not even the director. That's why she had the guts to go all out.
The merch is basically keychains and tissue boxes right now because they didnt know.
B-but CR doesn't even benefit the anime industry! Not at all! Not in the slightest! S-stop spreading lies! Let me just torrent from nyaa as I've been doing my whole life.
Streaming is still uncool, right /a/?
>panders to the most obnoxious people of the west community
You can't backtrack on this one, I'm afraid. What are you going to do now? Say
>I was just pretending to be retarded
Dä Chriggi isch dä bescht.
Are you daft? Free? UtaPri? Kekkai Sensen? Osomatsu-san?
>One of the main characters drinks a lot. He often removes all of his clothing while drunk.
>A character gets drunk at a party, he later is seen sexually harassing the guests.
>Two men are seen standing in an unintentional sexual pose, naked, as they are in a bathhouse. One of the men holds one of the other man's feet and stokes his face. Other male patrons of the bathhouse watch them though a glass door.
Why does it seem like it must be a blast writing this shit?
>A man applies chapstick to another man's lips
That doesn't really sou-
>while others watch.
Can we now say that the Animator Expo ruined anime?
No, this time it's different. Stalker threads have gotten a new spice.
The fujo spice.
I for one welcome our new fujoshi masters.
To be fair, that chapstick scene felt pretty lewd.
It is, Kubo said the best way to go is just going all the way and from interviews it seems she practically gets a kick out of bucking the "censors" for things like Chris antics. Also this madwoman was the one who drew the ED of this last episode.
It started out great. Awful animation at critical parts, but likable characters and soundtrack that made up for it.
Then it kinda overindulged with the fanservice. I think only really hardcore fujoshits would still enjoy it because they are being spoiled so much.
I don't mind the homo but it feels more like a doujinshi than anything else at this point.
Sports anime are usually pretty successful and they are aimed more towards general audience yet still gain a huge fujo following. YOI just decided to hone in on that fujo demographic and it really paid off for them.
If anything it just means more anime original sports series popping up that pay more attention to the fujo demographic. Given that /a/ doesn't give a shit about the sports anime genre in the first place I don't get what all the butthurt is about. This won't effect haremshit or moeshit in any way since the audience does not overlap.
>YOI just decided to hone in on that fujo demographic and it really paid off for them.
I think it's more than that, Kubo seems to genuinely like the homo and once had tweeted it was her own desire to write a love story where gender was irrelevant. She also implied that she and Sayo had decided to go with it while doing the drafts because that's the direction the characters just "took it", so to speak.
It could be that creators will feel less afraid to make their characters gay if they want to, which imo is good because at least that's more genuine than just fujobaiting all the time.
The "kiss" and "marriage proposals" are still up in the air, It seemed to me that the proposal was just a joke, no one really took it seriously and Yuuri was kind of denying it until they mentioned the gold medal, then everyone forgot about it, and the kiss was only 'confirmed' on Twitter, never actually happened on screen. if they don't follow through and don't actually make them marry then Kubo is an hypocrite.
They look like literal SJWs
Yuuri is shy and he's a nip, so no shit he got embarrassed when all the attention was on him. Everyone already looked at him like they knew what was up, and that's why Victor himself corrected him because he knew Yuuri was beating around the bush and what exactly it was about. That's why he looked to him after he said it.
Yuuri also used that sort of proposal language to him in the previous ep, the nips actually propose. That's why Victor commented the way he did, too.
Not that hard to understand.
We'll see in 3 weeks. I'm not interested enough to discuss it further, I just don't think it will happen, characters in yaoi/yuri bait shows get touchy all the time, and also joke about professing their love, etc, it's not uncommon. The only difference this time around is the writer confirming kisses that never happened in the show on Twitter.
>kisses that never happened in the show
Yeah, fuck off. If you can't tell what that was through the sound and art direction and the character's own words I can't help you. Try to watch the show with eyes open next time.
>the top selling stalkers are Gundam Origin 4 and Yuri on Ice
Where were you when anime was saved?
Technically there wasn't a kiss on live TV, Victor's arm is in the way, no one really saw the lips touch. It is heavily implied in the show and confirmed on Twitter I guess but it wasn't shown.
I don't care, I just corrected your "everyone saw the kiss on live tv", it's not true. Unless you don't know what a kiss is, let me show you.
With Yuri on Ice alone? All the lazy narration infodumping and weak characterization it has got going on, not to mention the boring framing and shot composition. She's a typical anime director, hence why I consider her mediocre, nothing really stands out aside from the premise and soundtrack, which aren't her doing anyway.
The point is that this is nothing else it could be because there's an entire shot of their lips and faces leaning in before it happens. They don't turn away for a second. They leave quite enough to let you know what they were going for. Please stop straining yourself already.
You conveniently forget the next shot which shows Victor's lips nowhere near Yuuri's.
>huge attractiveness differential
He can be attractive. Pic related.
>I'm not a fag
>a huge attractiveness differential
Only if you didn't watch the show. A large part of Yuuri's character is that he's both insecure and an unreliable narrator. He is a better skater and more loved than he believes of himself, and his appearance changes to reflect that. Normally he looks like an average beta in his glasses, sometimes he gains weight, but his appearance is god tier when it's suits the story (during programs, when he's drunkenly pole dancing, etc).
And really, it's fucking impossible for an average person to self insert as him without deluding themselves that they're anywhere near a pro athlete in mindset or skill. He is in a really unrelatable position and the only YOI fans who can truly understand it are the pro skaters watching the series.
>Anons were flipping out when Free! was announced
>/a/ STILL hasn't grown out of their embarrassing insecurity about series aimed at anyone other than them doing well
Figure skating is already popular in Japan because of pic related. Now because of this anime westerners are catching on too, the sport has fanservice potential and beauty.
As for YoI itself, the character designs aren't generic prettyboys or ugly like in Free! and it has genuinely entertaining writing.
The writing is shit, though. I watched a few episodes because of the premise but the characters act like fucking retards most of the time. Their interactions are too over the top and cartoony. I honestly couldn't stand it, and I can't help but feel I'm just watching a fanfic. I can see it being entertaining I guess if you don't mind weak characters and the interaction between said characters have this sort of amateurish feel that any fujo could write, I watch shitty shows too, but most of those end up flopping like they should.
I guess this is fujos response to Love Live because that series has the same issues and is still a big hit.
That's why I said entertaining, the show doesn't take itself seriously and Kubo said on twitter how in the YoI world you aren't discriminated for the things you love (I'm just paraphrasing). So there is no homophobia or other serious issues and it's just a feel-good silly show. Some of the side characters are ridiculously over the top, like Christophe with his comming on ice, Georgi with his emotional witch performance and Korea being top autismo and not showing any emotion while skating and calculating his score in his head.
Guess you're right, but I found the premise very interesting and I think it deserved equally interesting characters to move it along, what I got was not what I was expecting. Most of the time I feel like the plot just serves the fanservice, like in the latest episode with the convenient pole in the middle of a banquet hall and a cheap end credits dance off
Yeah, I agree with you, it's a bit too cheesy for my tastes. But on the other hand it got me into 3D figure skating where the stories of the skaters and their hard work are very admirable. Yuzuru Hanyu's struggles and successes in 2014 are almost unreal and manga material.
He looks pretty good depending on his mood, also it's a 23 year-old japanese guy with a 27 year-old russian, they wouldn't look similar because the show doesn't have sameface syndrome because the characters are mostly gaijin.
