Wrong. Toriyama is the original source. Toriyama does the storyboards for both the Super Anime and Super Manga, and allows them a little bit of creative freedom when it comes to certain things. Such as Goku vs. Hit or Goku vs. Trunks.

The things Toriyama storyboards are what is considered canon, anything else is filler. For instance, its called filler because it fills in a gap while they wait for Toriyama so they aren't just putting it on hiatus in the meantime, that is why its called filler.

That's where you're wrong. The whole premise of Super being canon stems from the fact that TA writes the plot outlines. Anything there written by Toei can stillness be considered canon. ESPECIALLY after TA himself criticized the quality of the super anime.

Why has no other battle shounen focused on martial arts? I think a big reason why DBZ was so good is the fighting choreography, and the reason it was so good was that it wasn't focused on just big attacks.

I really feel like most battle shounen these days focus more on abilities, but good ol' punching is still the best for action manga.

The more I think about it, the more shitty RoF was as an arc. It shat all over the stablished power levels by making Freeza multiply his level by like a million, and making his subordinates stronger or as strong as the Z Fighters, even then there was no tension as Goku didn't take him seriously and the spectators didn't show the sense of dread they should. The Goku vs Freeza fight was crap because of the animation and it just being in a small area. They both used their transformations at the same time and there was never really a struggle before that, and even after that it just felt like both parties were playing and not giving their all. The way Goku was defeated and the way they destroyed the Earth for no reason were also just shitty ways to make the arc feel tense, but they definitely didn't work.

What's worse is that the arc can't really be ignored, as it's the introduction to SSB. Fuck that arc really.

Zeno shouldn't even really be on here. His strength is outside of the concept of "power levels." He simply has the ability to erase things from existence. His actual "power level" is nowhere near that of Goku and company. Beerus and Whis clearly explain this.

Toriyama has been trying to ween us off of caring about power levels for a while. Actually, immediately after the concept was introduced it was supposed to be understood that it was a fundamentally flawed way of gauging opponents or predicting the outcomes of battles.

I don't understand how power level fags still don't get it. If you measured Trunks and Black with a scouter, Trunks would be far and away outmatched. But he has other intangibles. He's an intelligent and creative fighter, for one. And of course the classic DB trope that the right mix of anger and righteousness trumps all things.
