I’m sure what I say is already said by someone else, but I’ll throw it out there anyways. This post, of course, concerns Nami’s expression at Pudding’s news of Sanji’s proposal to her.
Initially, when I read other people’s views on her expression, I thought to myself, Yeah, Nami could be extremely upset at the news more so than Luffy. But it’s really how to tell because of the way Oda draws them. (Emotions is mostly show by the eyes.)
The way Oda’s draws male eyes is simpler compare to female eyes. It could be because Nami’s eyes are more detailed that she comes across looking more shocked than Luffy. For all I know, they could be equally shocked.
Anyways, I didn’t put too much emphasis on it until certain people made a huge fuss about it. I decided look at the chapter again and noticed that Oda actually drew their expressions side by side three times, one page after another.
The first one is when they see Pudding. Nami is clearly surprised while Luffy looks angry.
The second one is the news of Sanji’s proposal. Both are shocked. Truthfully, I think Oda could have draw Nami’s expression from the first set and it would have fit fine with Luffy’s second expression. Instead he went with a more drastic look for her.
The last one is Pudding’s whisper. Nothing to say except whatever Pudding whispered to them horrified them.
One more thing to add,
Notice how Nami is in the exact center of the page, also notice how her panel is the only panel without a dialog bubble blocking any part of her face. She doesn’t say anything and her expression is very prominent here. She even holds that expression to the last panel of the page, unlike Luffy who goes back to being angry. Nami is very shocked and Oda wants you to absolutely see that.

I'm not even bothering to read it weekly like I used to. I could miss 6 chapters and not have any trouble following the threads.

The current plot line is very well defined, they are aiming for Kaidou since entering the New World, the current arc is just a detour. After they are done with Kaidou would be the perfect time for another timeskip, showing how Luffy became a Yonkou with the fleet protecting his turf while he and the main crew are doing something. That would be the perfect way to tie in to the final saga while making the whole series feel less rushed in in-series time, while making it more believable for Luffy to be on the top tier of fighters.

Before Dressrosa the crew hadn't been separated like this though. And I think that by saying Luffy won't win against Big Mom, it's not the same as Water 7 and Alabasta in the sense of he's too weak and couldn't possibly win, but on the sense of Oda isn't aiming in that direction with the arc.

As usual we're wishing for a non-conventional ending to this arc (as in: no big final showdown against the big bad and a victory that solve magically everything) and we are looking for small pieces of evidence it will go differently... and it won't.

Besides, a well done timeskip is marketing gold. New designs, new attacks, a fresh introduction to the series. It could work being anything from 6 months-3 years, though I'm hoping for 1 year.

My main problem with this is what would the crew be doing in this time that doesn't need to be shown, but I think that Oda can find a way to make it work without separating the crew or making it feel the same as the other timeskip.

Luffy has said several times that he doesn't want to fight Big Mom, and is there just to save Sanji. The main antagonist in the truest sense of the word is Germa, as his family is the one that got him in those problems.

Not only that, but the crew isn't together because this is just a detour Luffy took before going to the main destination that's being hyped up since three arcs ago.

The point of this arc is for the Yonkou to be more fleshed out, instead of it just being Luffy going to each Yonkou's turf, defeating him and moving on. This won't be Luffy's first Yonkou, and I doubt he's even going to be the one to take her down.

Two completely different situations. Fishman Island was said to be the next destination, but it was never hyped up as the next big battle.

Kaidou became the target in PH, and since then they've been building up just how powerful he and a Yonkou in general can be, even having an arc dedicated to one of his subordinates (Jack).

Luffy wants to fight him, and he wants to fight all of the Yonkou really. But now he went to rescue Sanji without intending to fight Big Mom, without taking his whole crew, let alone Law's crew with who he allied to take down Kaidou. If Luffy can defeat her here, not only would it defeat the whole point of hyping up the Yonkou so much, but it'd break the plotline of Kaidou, as they are supposed to be on the same level.

I just wanted Doflamingo to be a glass cannon that used his fruit to avoid getting hit. Between string clones, parasito, birdcage, and all his ranged options, there was no reason for him to be as absurdly durable as he was.
