Akito is canon, but blue geass was already part of the show. See Jeremiah's mecha eye. At least the one from Akito was more tied to the theme of the story rather than just being a reversal geass power.

I wonder where they are going go with this blue geass stuff if it is true. Also, will the Akito characters have any role in the sequel.
