They unfortunately skipped several chapters that paint her in a better light since the chapters were light on fanservice. Unfortunately, they seem to have chosen the fanservice heavy material, which puts her in a rather unflattering light.

If they animated it by following the series chapter by chapter, Rin would be infinitely more likable. I like Rin (because of the manga), and I could see why someone who hasn't read the manga would find her anime version insufferable and annoying.

I saw that someone posted that this series passed a million copies in Japan, so the currently running series has zero incentive to stop focusing on Rin (since she is a big reason why the series is so popular in Japan). It also means that they can do a Season 3 in 1 or 2 years once they released more manga.
