Quick question; just finished Part 5 with translations that are apparently terrible, and I enjoyed it, but what the fuck was up with Fugo? I can understand him not wanting to betray the boss and leaving the group, but I kept expecting him to come back and finally solve things, but no he kind of just fucks off and we never see him again. Looked him up on a wiki and apparently he teams up with some guy named Rigatoni? Do I have to read that?

I mean if Avdol can come back due to fan request, why the hell couldn't they show off Fugo doing SOMETHING during the final confrontation? Just sort of feels like wasted potential, especially considering the fact that Purple Haze is such a weird stand with a lot more potential.

My problems with part 2 are its characters and hamon. Joseph himself wasn't bad, but I dislike the "so quirky XDXDXD" kind of characters in general. Caesar was just boring. forced, inconsistent and his death was pointless. Kars was ok, but definetly my least favorite villain.

First one is Golden Heart Golden Ring, currently only available in Jap and Italian, it was written a short time after VA finished, and it affects canon a little bit. Second one is Purple Haze Feedback, written in 2012, IIRC. It happens after VA's end and explains what happened to Fugo. It's available in english. I'm currently reading it and it's pretty nice.

Avdol's death and comeback had nothing to do with what fans wanted

I wonder how well Polnareff did in these things? Pretty much everyone here seems to like him the most out of 3's crew, and he definitely had the most character-development too. Second-most fights after Jotaro as well, not bad at all. And he gets a ton of attention from fan-artists, too.

Popularity polls tend to have weird or shitty results though, wouldn't have been surprised if Kakyoin was at 2 or 3 in spite of not doing shit.

4, 2, 3, 1, 5 best to worst, but by a very small margin, 5 being the worst by a larger margin than the others

It's partly the fact that it's fun to see stands in a somewhat more realistic setting. The biggest appeal is Kira being one of the most entertaining villains in the series. He doesn't feel like a typical big bad. He almost feels like the protagonist. He's got the worst luck in the world. He's got a weak stand for a main villain and he wouldn't even have gotten involved with the story if not for a dog stealing Shigechi's sandwich. His life is basically a never-ending 3 Stooges skit. He's constantly on the run from the heroes in a game of cat and mouse, but through his cunning and perseverance, he still manages to survive the shitshow he's been thrown into. But whenever he manages to make it out on top, his smug sadism is just plain awesome. Every moment he's on-screen is either tense as hell or hype as hell.

I like the fact that he's also the most realistic villain. A murderer hiding right under everybody's noses. He's the only one of the main villains who already exists in the real world.

I'm denying that it's higher quality in terms of art and storytelling, but I'm just more into the fast-paced adventure and fun of the other parts. I'm not as much of a mystery and suspense kind of guy. I'm not liking the fights as much either. The enemy stands are also getting a little too weird for me, like Doobie Wah and Born This Way.

It's one of those stands that's weak, but has a really useful power. The way Joseph uses it in the Empress fight to make a map of the area was awesome. If Joseph had it back in Part 2 when he actually had the spotlight, he'd be unstoppable. His sleight of hand bordered on space-time manipulation levels of bullshit. He perfected the very concept of an asspull into a martial art. Giving him the additional situational awareness, mobility, and range that comes with Hermit Purple would be like if you gave Houdini actual magic. Hermit Purple is the perfect stand for a trickster like Joseph.
