Vivid continued on since it didn't play too much with conflicts/dark themes. They must be just testing the waters now with the Vivid Strike.

Force dug them into a hole and they don't know where to go with this. People go "oh why don't they just do A's again". See I don't think Tsuzuki is confident enough these days to even attempt at something like A's. Force was suppose to be that callback to his eyes. However, it was stomped, chewed, and spit back at his face.

Vivid Strike allows a return to darker themes from the original Vivid's SoL. It retains much of the light heartiness and has a fallback setting to give itself a crutch.

Reflection might be dependent on the reaction to VS.

By itself not much but it had a strong clash with past seasons in his it handles characters, atmosphere, narrative, etc... It felt too different and alienated fans of past seasons for how well liked elements like magic, personal weapons with personality, empathic antagonists, etc. were suddenly changed and turned on its head. Also the cartoonish attempt of making the series dark and serious made the fandom cringe.

According to reviews it seems like Tsuzuki really put a lot of thought on FORCE as the fourth season and follow up in the story of Nanoha and her squad of friends facing multidimensional threats. But there was no payoff and everything has been fluff, filler, retellings and tournaments ever since. The main storyline is now stagnated. Only after VS concludes and we have Reflections in feathers we'll know if there's a future for the main story.

The main reason A's was fantastic was that it had a superb antagonist cast. The Wolkenritter are unfortunately one of the few examples in anime where the villains genuinely are decent people who are doing evil things because they have no choice but to do so. 1. It has become more or less the norm to use real locations for backgrounds, because it's cheap, so every SF show nowadays have cities that look more or less like Japan. In other words they were too lazy to actually design a futuristic city.

I assume the reason it's been interpreted as imitation Japan is mainly because that's what's easy to write and animate. Truly making it alien would require extensive pre-production design drawings and make things harder for both the key animators and inbetweeners.

Only high level mages have the ability to fly in the first place, and even then not all of them do. Teana became an S-rank mage after the events of Strikers, but she's still just a ground mage as opposed to an aerial mage like Fate or Nanoha.

Go watch any MMA match (or fight in general) with a decent grappler. When they grab someone, they ALWAYS go for a takedown. Rinne never went for a takedown even once in her fights with Miura in Vivio. The former she said she wouldn't use any takedowns against. It's not even remotely difficult against someone with no grappling techiques of their own and she had more than enough opportunities in her fight against Vivio. She pretty much "forgot" all of her techniques against Vivio because she was supposed to lose. Vivio's win felt very forced.

It's not though. Not at all. Pure striking typically struggles against grappling for a reason. Every fight will always end up in grabbing range at some point or another. Even boxers occasionally end up grabbing each other. I just don't see the point in hyping her up as a grappler and then not have her use any of her techniques.
