You make a good point, this anime that you just looked up on wikipedia and haven't actually watched DOES have some superficial similarities with bebop, like:
>There are four people
>They're in space
>They do odd jobs
Watanabe is a hack
Reminder that you're retarded if you think some anime from 30 years ago invented space western.

What did invent space western?

Pretty sure it's been a thing since the early 20th century. Dunno what the first anime would've been though.

Sci-fi as a popular thing basically got it's start in pulp periodicals, at a time when westerns were also popular. Sometimes they'd share space in the same magazines. A lot of early scifi was just cowboys in space, because people were not very creative.
There was also a lot of mixing with sailing stories and fantasy

No. Wrong. They were cowboys because cowboys were the heroic figures of the time, sending them onto outer space was just the next natural step. The first one was perhaps John Carter in A Princess of Mars in 1912. The very concept of an astronaut just hadn't been thought up yet, they weren't really invented until the fifties. Even then they lacked the imagination for some concepts, spacecraft in come comics resembled submarines for example. But in the fifties and especially the sixties, astronauts became very popular and replaced cowboys as the heroic figures of the generation. It's what paved the way for the immense success of Star Wars in the seventies that merged outer space with a sense of mysticism. Then in the eighties and nineties Superheroes finally hit the mainstream and they haven't gone away since.

Except not at all.

Cowboy Bebop never was about having a super original concept though.
It's just a pretty well executed show.
