If you think about it, Isekai is the only genre that hasn't produced even a single worthwile anime.
Should we conclude that Isekai is an objectively inferior genre, and ontologically flawed?

>he didn't watch Escaflowne
I started this show because of all the flack for it, I'm 12 episode in when does this actually get bad?
Isn't Tenkuu Senki Shurato isekai?
Log Horizon S1 and Konosuba were great
>>149730424
Calling Escaflowne Isekai is like calling Astroboy mecha.
Sure, it technically is, but it's more of a precursor with few of the staples of the genre that would come later.
Leda was worthwhile
it's good
>>149730608
12K was solid, but really wish it was more faithful to the books.
>>149730567
No they weren't.
Being self aware and ironic doesn't make you good.
>>149730002
Log Horizon and No Game No Life are two of the best anime ever made.
>>149730663
Did you mean "animes"?
>>149730002
I can't help but think there must be one halfway decent Isekai show.
>>149730657
They were great though.
Remember anon: My opinion > Your opinion.
Also
>Log Horizon
>Self-aware and Ironic
Are you retarded?
>>149730663
Come back when you've seen more than 3 anime.
>mfw the best shows this year were isekai
>>149730002
Don't most of them also contain harem characteristics? So maybe that's the problem. I do think harem are inherently flawed, from a literary standpoint.
>>149730777
Rakugo, Mob and Flip Flappers were isekai?
>>149730777
What shows would those be?
>>149730820
Konosuba,Re:zero
>>149730805
Depends how broad your definition of harem is.
>>149730424
>eating shit
Next you're going to say Takahashi trash is "good anime"
>>149730636
>wish it was more faithful to the books
Nah, adding the classmates was a clever move. You simply cannot adapt such amount of internal monologue of the narrator into anime.
>>149730874
A 6/10 and a 4/10, respectively.
>>149730903
This is my opinion only, but I wouldn't consider a girl part of a harem unless she clearly displays some interest in the MC.
I know there are a lot of shows out there that aren't proper harems, but do display subtle harem undertones.
>>149731004
MAL say differently
>>149731015
I was thinking of stuff like Ranma and Lamù, that have plenty harem elements and are generally considered manga milestones.

Since then so many have come out that the genre as a whole has become stale.
Maybe it's not even possible anymore to create a decent harem show because of the sheer volume of them. No originality is possible within a genre which has pretty much already played it from every angle numerous times.
>>149731067
Poor bait
>>149731317
Or maybe modern harems are just shit.
Compare something like Ranma, with a good protagonist, good humor, good supporting characters other than the girls, martial arts, etc. to the shit they make now.
>>149731437
No doubt they are. Mahou Koukou for example. Regardless of whether it's "objectively good" or not, I was pleased with how the romantic aspect was handled. At first it looked like every female character would swoon over the overpowered MC, but instead they ended up in relationships with the other male supporting characters. It does help to have decent male supporting characters.
As far as harem goes, I do prefer action/harem to straight harem/comedy.
>>149730805
Most of them cater to self-inserters by wanking the MC, so yes. Isekai is like the next evolution in catering to those readers.
>>149730516
Stopped watching at ep 20. I just couldn't stand it anymore. Episode 18 was the highlight of feels, though.
