There is difference between a character becoming useful and a character becoming useful because of the worst BY FAR WORST fucking dumb story in the history of mankind.

This is the absolute bottom level of writing.

Nothing makes even 1% sense. Its all complete fucking shit. Its terrible garbage.

GT was an insult to every fan. This episode is light years worse than that.

It was clear that Trunks would be the one administering the final blow, and that's fine. Hell, that's how it ought to be. But they also wanted to include Vegetto, and it's obvious that they didn't know how to get from having Vegetto clean house to having Trunks get the final blow.

A lot of this could have been avoided if they fleshed out Trunks' training arc. There is absolutely NO reason as to why Trunks should have such an easy time learning things like the Mafuba and Spirit Bomb. These were techniques that required a lot of training to learn, and he just picked them up on the fly.

I think it'd be a lot more digestible if both Goku and Vegeta had simply said, "We'll go with you, but you should learn a few things so that you can continue being the hero of your world," and introduced him to these techniques.

Vegetto looked great. He was in top form. The new stipulation was stupid as fuck, but at least we got him. He didn't lose, the plot was just poorly written.
