Thank fuck, infinite-scrolling was raping my CPU and RAM.

Finally

Really dislike infinite scrolling especially when it is poorly implemented with no option to turn it off.

Several sites have becomes difficult or unusable to me because of this.

Ironically, the only decent infinite-scrolling implementation I've seen is on Deviantart. It doesn't continually ramp up CPU/RAM, and you can go Back without losing your place.
>>
Lets hope youtube does the same.
Its fucking impossible to watch old videos of channels.
>>
My pixiv never switched to the new style, thankfully.

I've not heard a single person praise the new style.

>>
Can we all agree that infinite scrolling is cancer?
>>
>>149686731
Infinite scrolling, circle avatars, and everything to do with modern web design is fucking horrible and inconvenient.
>>
>>149686702
Did you also take screenshots with a camera?
>>
>>149686827
Circle avatars/icons don't really bother me as much.

I do hate how everything has to have a bright white background, like, fuck that shit, Tomorrow theme 4lyfe
>>
>>149687150
>I do hate how everything has to have a bright white background
I agree 100 fucking percent. I hate how every single site seems to be getting rid of customization and forcing your to burn your retinas out with pure fucking white.

I'm not even a XxXDarkLordXxX edgy teenager either, it's just so uncomfortable to browse those sites at night.
>>
>>149685538
I thought I was the only one who hated infinite-scrolling. Why does tumblr also do this dumb shit? Especially loading all the gifs.
>>
>>149687519
I don't really use tumblr but every time I've tired to used it for something the infinite scrolling has been a problem.

It will just jump at random and you lose your place and have to spend a while finding it again. Also have no idea how you could even look at older stuff in any structured manner. Guess the people how actually use tumblr have some tricks they know to make it more usable but it is beyond me.
>>
>>149687519
>Why does tumblr also do this dumb shit?
>Especially loading all the gifs.

Because tumblr staff are a bunch of dumb assholes who can never be trusted or relied upon and who never do a good job at anything. You think moderation is bad on some 4chan boards, it ain't shit on how bad tumblr staff is at moderation.

Infinite scrolling can thankfully be turned off for searches and on your dashboard, but some faggots insist on using custom made themes with infinite scrolling, which you can't turn off, so I hope you like loading everything an artist has ever made and watch your memory usage shoot through the roof.

>>149687779
>but every time I've tired to used it for something the infinite scrolling has been a problem.
You can turn it off in user options.
The idea of getting a tumblr account may not be inviting but it'll let you browse NSFW tagged things without issue. Also it's fun to shitpost the people there, if I have to be honest.

>It will just jump at random
It'll sometimes inexplicably do this with infinite scrolling turned off too, lord knows why, but at least you don't have 20 pages worth of content to try to find where you were.

>Guess the people how actually use tumblr have some tricks they know to make it more usable
Some guy made a plugin called X-Kit, which allows you to fix and ignore a bunch of dumb bullshit staff does.

Tumblr, being full of fickle outrage addicts, at one point accused the author of this app to be a rapist (because of course they did), and chased him off. Then tumblr got some shitty updates and everyone realized "Oh fuck, we needed him" and began to panic.
>>
>>149688504
Tumblr doesnt allow loading webms without using some external resource and people do everything they can to prevent you from opening an image in full size.
Its just all around frustrating site to browse.

Hot damn, I might actually use Pixiv again. Or browse for more porn on tumblr.
>>
>>149685538
Nice, infinite scrolling is god awful
>>
Not anime, fuck off
>>
>>149689136
It's related to anime and is no less relevant than the sad panda threads
>>
so we agree a lot of modern website design, especially redesigns for pixiv and other anime related stuff is annoying as fuck but what websites do you think have great design?
>>
>>149689379
I only really like simple websites. There's something to be said for 4chan's web 1.0 simplicity.

If a site has autoplaying videos or a toolbar that follows you around or pops up a message telling you to join their fucking newsletter or whatever that's enough for me to never use that site ever again.
>>
>>149688950
>and people do everything they can to prevent you from opening an image in full size.
Varies.
Some people for whatever reason have their blog set up so that if you click the image they post, you get sent to their front-page. I find that most people don't, but enough do that it's annoying.

Whoever thought that was a good idea should be gassed, but you can get around it by opening the post itself, then select View Image, and rewriting the URL from 500 or whatever it happens to be, into 1280, which should show the largest size of this image that is on tumblr's servers (if there is a larger one, otherwise it'll just show the same one again).

As much contempt as I have for 70% of the people on tumblr, watching the Literally Shakening after the presidential election has been a delight.
>>
>>149689379
4chan has pretty good design as a forum, it's clean and simple, it's utilitarian and doesn't try to be flashy.
>>
>>149689379
Futaba, boorus and nyaa.

Nothing fancy and works perfectly.

Never had a problem with infinite scrolling using [TS] Pixiv++ script on the old layout, infact it made the site more browsable. It's how Pixiv HAS to look like tumblr that bothered me.
>>
>>149691225
Mado for extra simple. It's gets some criticism for it, but it only does want I want it to do.
>>
>>149691225
>boorus
Not EVERY booru but mostly just the top ones. I've seen some pretty shitty boorus to where I wish I never saw them.
>>
>>149693945
I like Mado a lot, my only complaint is that I can never get to the raws category unless I'm on the main screen after logging in.
>>
>>149694653
Most boorus become exponentially nicer to use with a good ad blocker.

I recommend uBlock, it's adaptable and works nicely.
AdBlockPlus sells you to advertisers and will let them 'slip through'.
>>
>>149685538
It never changed for me, so I missed the whole mess.
>>
>>149694941
They randomly select accounts to beta test new stuff from time to time. I think I was selected once before for another version of Pixiv a year or so ago, not sure what it was called though, I'm also not sure what happened to it either since its features didn't seem to get implanted.
>>
I didn't even know pixiv had infinite-scrolling.
>>
I liked that new pixiv had the images at full size after clicking by default instead of that default1200 nonsense.

But the bookmarking interface was worse since I had to manually type out the tags.
>>
>>149694867
uBlock is okay but it doesn't seem to auto-close pop-ups so sometimes I end up with a pile of a dozen or so pop-up windows with blocked sites that I have to manually close.
>>
>>149695335
Same, I hadn't noticed it

>>

>>
>>149694867
Nah, there's still some shitty looking boorus even without the ads.

Just go down the list, I'm sure you'll see what I mean once you find one.
>>
>>149696590
Can't wait until they learn about webms and get rid of those god awful Ugoira's.
>>
>>149695411
I use Poper Blocker for popup blocking. The remaining annoying things are redirects, interstitials, and Javascript alerts. Thankfully, the latter are being de-fanged in upcoming Chrome versions. (I think they're already pretty neutered in Firefox.)

https://crbug.com/442604#c20
>With bug 629964, scheduled for M56, alerts will not lock out tab switching and you'll be able to close tabs while they have alerts up.
>Removing the ability for alerts to switch tabs is going to be slow. As part of bug 629964 I'm removing it from prompt(). Removing switching from alert() and confirm() is hopefully coming soon, but not immediately.
>>
>>149696888
Someone on /jp/ cries when you don't like Ugoira.
>>
>>149695335
>>149695439
You never checked rankings? It's most clear there.
>>
>>149693945
I like it but some extra functionality wouldn't go amiss, like a lists system similar to MU. When you 'watch' a lot of manga but can't categorize it then it becomes a little disorganised.
>>
Where to you access the menu to turn infinite scroll off, I don't see it.
>>
>>149702651
It's in the lower-right corner (on a page that doesn't infinite-scroll, naturally). See OP pic. "Use original pixiv"
>>
>>149696888
This. Ugoira is a terrible idea and a pain. Should have kept things more simple like Nijie did, just download a gif and thats it.
>>
>>149702742
Doesn't seem to be there for me, the only thing in the lower right is the browser filter settings.
>>
I'm still on the old layout, I don't have any issues with it so why would I change?

Pixiv is probably where I do half my fapping these days.

Doesn't matter if they have no aptitude whatsoever for what they're doing.
