Yeah, a lot of people don't understand that the footage they see in trailers is select shots that are shipped to the marketing company to cut into a trailer months in advance. So by the time it comes out, what you're seeing is already at least two months behind the production's progress.
This is also why a lot of trailers play scenes and shots out of order. Sometimes it is misdirection on the part of the producers, but most of the time it's just the marketing company trying to make sense of the incomplete footage that it's been given.
