Kamachi should realize that grinding on slimes and doing fetch quests is not something people want to see in the endgame.

It's always the same pattern - Kamachi comes up with an idea for a new random character/power/whatever, puts it in the volume and shoehorns the main plot somewhere between the chapters or in the epilogue.
This worked well in OT, acceptably in early NT and gets really tiring in the late NT, where you would expect high pace and wild ride. Slowing down after NT10 was a mistake and sales are showing it. Also Kamisato, Yuiitsu and Gods aren't really that fascinating to begin with.

The volume looks like it'll be fun indeed. NT17 is obvious a breather that all the serious stuff. Kamachi always have these kind of stories, which often are enjoyable. I also like Kamisato and his girls so I'm pretty hyped. Fran so far sounds and pirate loli has potential. I'm still holding onto the theory that Kamisato will drag the Magic Gods with him when Touma saves him. It's possible he settled the issue with the Magic Gods on that special phase world and that will be an interesting development and bad news for Aleister.

I'll be honest. I've been reading Index for many years and I've never liked Touma. He's just so bland, generic, and is lacking in the personality department to make me be emotionally attached to. I'm used to it though having gone through more harems than I care to count. Ignoring the MC comes naturally to me. The girls and side characters are what I read for, and it's true in Index as well. Ah but, Index uses a multiple hero system. I don't enjoy Touma, but I do enjoy Accelerator. Shiage is okay, but he's sorta in the gray area and that makes him a bit more interesting than Touna. Not sure if Kamisato will be considered a new hero yet, but I think he's more interesting too for having set goals and doesn't shy from doing what it takes to reach it.

Based on the spoiler of "remodeling the AAA for reconstruction" with Mikoto, anyone of you guys think that its not actually going to be for engineering?

I feel like considering how Mikoto's mindset was after she got it as well as her stubborn nature, it seems odd for her to remodel it for construction stuff. Plus, isn't her electromagnetism enough for reconstructing Tokiwadai or that there's other epsers there who can help? If not, there's several other construction robots, right? Mikoto could remodel those instead of the AAA.

I'm thinking that it will be remodeled, but not for what was said. Considering the timing and incident, perhaps Mikoto's actually gonna turn the AAA into it's original form or it's intended purpose that Aleister has planned.

Now, whether Mikoto is unknowingly doing it, being manipulated, or was intentionally lying to Touma, is another matter...

What I don't like about Kamisato is how stupidly his concept was implemented. He just pops out of nowhere, in like a week or two gets a personal army of over hundred of completely devoted magical girls, has knowledge about things even Othinus wasn't aware of and puts Touma's claims about being normal to shame. He throws tantrums about WR and harem, believing it justifies going full murderhobo on everyone, but he would have nothing to complain about if he just didn't use his goddamn power, making his motives utterly inane.

If he was supposed to be some kind of anti-Touma, then he fails completely, since - to put it bluntly - no one cares. He's way too underdeveloped to act as a deuteragonist, with him, his goals and his faction being just a compilation of plot devices. His relationship with Touma was established way too late and way too abruptly. It doesn't also help that his character is completely unsympathetic - he just came, started some shit and got rekt, causing main characters to get caught in the crossfire in the process.

And to add insult to an injury, he comes together with a whole bunch of characters, where each of them can be comprehensively described as "Kamisato's fangirl with weird power #23748". NT14 was a real chore to read because of that.

Ideally, you would introduce such character way sooner, have him appear a few times, sometimes as an ally, sometimes as an enemy, make some minor developments, establish his relationship with protag, make audience interested, and then start a major character arc. But with timing of Magic Gods plot that would mean Kamisato would fully come into play somewhere around NT18-NT20 and Kamachi wanted anti-Touma right here, right now, which resulted with all that crap being shoved down our throats.

Now think about that again. Where the fuck can you go after the craziness of NT9/10? It's clear that Kamachi has no intentions of starting the real engame soon, so what is there really? Kamisato was probably just a plot device to get Yuiitsu rolling as an antagonist and ended up being a failure.

This arc ended up being a messy way to wrap up multiple plot points, get Touma back on his feet and set up some endgame thinigs with right hand abilities/ABRAHADABRA and that's about it.
