Due to the statements in the manga, Toriyama in interviews, Whis' talk about the tree and the castle and Beerus' insane plan to make Goku think Manako is the strongest in the universe, it's pretty clear that Beerus so absurdly powerful Goku and Vegeta won't surpass him, not even if you include the Vegito fusion.

Powerlevels are so absurdly large, that even if Goku and Vegeta keep on nearly killing each other in the hyperbolic time chamber with an infinite supply of sensu beans farming near infinite zenkai boosts, they'll still hardly get any stronger.

The numbers are so big, that even multipliers and boosts hardly increase their strength.

I don't understand why they went through the trouble of using Vegetto only to have Zeno solve it. With all the beatings Goku's taken this arc, that button should have been pressed ages ago. But then, this is the same series where being stabbed clean through doesn't leave any punctures in your clothes.

This is the difference between Super and Toriyama's DB work. There was a modicum of sense to Toriyama's craziness. There's a logic that's easy to follow and pretty satisfying.

This arc had potential, but didn't live up to it. Didn't even come close. So many fucking issues.

Future Trunks was all alone. He got zenkai boosts from getting beaten up by the Androids, he got zenkai boosts from getting killed by Cell, he got zenkai boosts from getting beaten up by Goku Black who knows how many times.

Nevermind that he fought Dabura and was trained by the Future Supreme Kai.

And to top hit off, he's older than Gohan. There's no real indication for how strong a half-saiyan would become since he's the oldest half-saiyan that exists so far.

My issue with this arc isn't that Vegetto won't killing Zamasu. It's the writing. Goku's been put through so many beatdowns this arc, and not ONE of them triggered the Zeno button's activation. The arc started off promising. Goku and company have gone through time like twice just to get their shit kicked in. Goku is serious about saving Trunks' timeline but forgets something vital to doing so. Trunks gets blasted by SSJ3 Goku (anime,) trains for a little bit with his father (which we don't get to see,) and learns not only Vegeta's entire repertoire but also gets an unexplained, newfound source of power that allows him to compete with and survive against Black and Zamasu until Goku and his father can return. Bulma pulls some slutty hijinks as a callback to DB pt. I that just looks so fucking out of place. Trunks gets mad, powers up some more, and learns a technique that takes ages and discipline to learn in about 5 minutes after watching Piccolo just do it on a video.

That's about my only issue with it, I *assumed* he simply reached Teen Gohan's but at this stage in the story it just figured it provided a much more absurd boost than it did for Gohan during the cell games.
