The animation and art was beautiful. The characters were unique, and the subtle comedy added a nice break from the drama. The soundtrack complimented it perfectly and the pacing/progression was well done. My only complaint is the rush ofthe fathers death in the beginning. I didn't feel much attachment to him.
Otherwise, why is this film not appreciated here? This is up there with ghibli films.

I really like the Girl Who Leapt Through Time, but Summer Wars is a bit overrated.
It bugs me how stupid the family acts sometimes. I know it's for comedy's sake mostly, but still, why not explain you're saving the internet or whatever instead of just doing all that and letting the mourning portion of the family fuck it all up through misunderstandings.
