>OP and ED were taken out of the episodes into separate files
Why the hell did they do this?
To save space.
>>149428014
to save space for batch torrents or something?
i mean they are a good 10-20% of the file, and that's how much space you save.
also the last time i had this, my player put the right OPs and ED into the right episode automatically.
>>149428014
not enough pixels
They do that so that you can just delete the OP and ED file, and automatically skip over them. Saves time.

>buy the original dvds
>they do the exact same shit.
>>149428014
Probably so you can seperate the audio track from them and put it on your phone/music player.
>>149428014
For a while, there was this ordered chapters fuckery where it would play the OP and ED at the right times, but they only needed one copy of the actual thing instead of having it in every ep's file. It never really caught on.

And let me guess, it was all managed using some asinine, poorly-written mpv script, right?
>>149433844
It's just a feature of MKV. Any half decent media player should play it just fine. It's annoying if you're trying to watch on a device that doesn't support it though.
use mpc
>>149428014
you can take them out of the same folder and it will skip the op/ed
it saves space
Smaller filesize?
>>149428014
Just put it back in using a video editor like I do.
because everyone skips those

/thread
I hate how it's NCOP/NCED every episode in those situations.
To save space
If they set up the ordered chapters properly it'd play the OP and ED at the appropriate points
>>149428014
>his video player can't read the scripts that autoplay the OP and ED in their proper positions
pleb tier
>>149437008
Even vlc can do it. What do you even have to be using?
The version of Lain I first watched didn't even include the opening seperately
I didn't even know the show HAD an opening for weeks

>Missing out on the PRESENT DAY, PRESENT TIME every ep
You poor soul.

[do a little digging]
Apparently it was an obscure feature in the Matroska standard that only mpv supported properly and no one actually used, until the fansub groups found out about it and started using it, whereupon everyone else scrambled to add it to their players.
This is fucking why we need a uniform standard for the fansub community, instead of relying on the implementation of one or two meme players.

You should dig your own grave you retard.
Kill yourself.
