Guts isn't even a chosen one to begin with; he was supposed to die with his comrades in Eclipse (as Griffith's sacrifice) but his strength and strong will let him survive til the end.
On the other hand, Griffith is a God Hand, he CHOSE to become one of them. He never was a "chosen one"

Griffith's choice was all according to plan, though. He accepted destiny because it was supposed to grant what he wanted, that he would become a conqueror and ruler.

Meanwhile, Guts being a branded is supposed to indicate he was fated to die as a sacrifice. Every single second of his continued existence is in defiance of fate. His intention to defeat Griffith is in defiance as well.

What did Guts do that was important? He's saved a bunch of people, but I don't that's equal to what Griffith has done.
