That'd mean completely ending his bloodline and surrendering to Naraku. If he has a kid, his bloodline can continue the fight until Naraku is finally defeated and the curse lifted. Both sides can be seen as selfish, and Miroku never seemed to resent his grandfather and father for his condition.
