Madoka is made out to look like it's deeper than it really is. There's no message in the show, no real theme. It's a better than average story clouded in a bunch of artsy looking shit that doesn't actually serve any real purpose.

It does do some pretty admirable stuff, but idiots have taken the limited combination of good things it does to extrapolate that it's a never before seen masterpiece because it appeals to both yurifags and affluent people who don't like to hate on anime when it is actually pretty good, even if it's overrated, which makes up the two most influential factions on /a/.

I really isn't. I mean sure I got a laugh the first couple of episodes but it's the same fucking jokes for the rest of the show. Same thing with the manga/webcomic (which I read years before the anime aired). It's not terrible, it's an eye candy series. The comedy is definitely not it's strongest point. Most people wouldn't even care about this show if it hadn't been hyped to a million by western anime news outlets due to it's western themes.

Hell, I enjoyed Overlord a hell of a lot more than OPM and that didn't look half as good. It was obvious all the animation budget used by Madhouse was spent on OPM.

It basically suffers from the same issues the second half of SAO suffered, people don't actually die in the MMO anymore and Kirito is a super god pussy magnet.

OPM is literally an eye candy anime. Like Redline. Looks great but that's about it. It's a nice simple short series and I don't fault it for it. However, I don't think it should be compared with Re:Zero. Regardless of how shit a lot people think it is. It's an actual series, with an overarching story/goal and character development. OPM is, as you rightfully said, a gag series. It doesn't pretend to be anything else. A true gag series, unlike Gintama which likes to mix and match gag with drama. I have no real issues with OPM outside of finding it boring because of the 'Superman' main character.

If you are referring to SAO it's an LN. Otherwise, I have read OPM at least I'm up to date with the manga not ONE's webComic. I have yet to see Saitama fight anyone that made him even get serious. Closest thing so far was that cyclopes alien and he still got BTFO.
