What I'm saying is that the "strength" of a female character should be derived from the content and quality of their character and not the degree to which some latent plot-convenience allows them to affect changes in the world around them on a whim. Yeah, there's a whole wide genre of yuri by girls for girls, published in magazines that target only girls and so on, but they're very different from the kind of yuri you see in shows like this or otakubait videogames like neptunia.

To use an analogy, it's like comparing the male relationships in Free vs something like House of Five Leaves. One's gay as fuck for the express purpose of titillating an audience that loves gay things, while the other is rather incidentally gay as it tries to explore something else entirely about its characters.
