pretty sure its the second half of the 100 manslayer fight in the forest, and after that is the first time casca willingly gets close to guts. it ends with them on this hill and the threat of him leaving the Hawks - its pretty much the moment everything starts going to shit. being coupled with this song made sure it's cemented in my memory forever.

Either The Doctor's Disease or Yusuke's Final Test. Final test is so raw and emotional but the fight against the Doctor has some excellent choreography and always stuck with me as one of the highest staked fights of the whole series.

There are dozens I'd pick for honorable mention though, NGNL 6 had such an entertaining and ridiculous climax I can't help but love it, Hibike 8's ending set the whole series for me and Penguindrum has so many stand out episodes although 8 is a stand out favorite of mine.

Oh Ill never say the first movie is bad it just pales when you compare it to the rest. The atmosphere are great but the plot is a bit odd and hard to follow as the setting isnt established well enough to just have the story roll along as it does. You spend half the movie going who the fuck is this? What the fuck is that? Why does she have a doll arm?

It really would have set better if it werent the intro to the series.

Other posters said NGE episodes 25 and 26, and while 24 is not my favorite episode is probably the one that surprised me the most, and I'm very far from being a Kaworu-fag.

Introducing a key character and killing it off in a single episode to the tune of Beethoven is completely crazy (budget issues aside), and I loved it.

Psycho-Pass ep 22. It just feels to full and satisfying. Everything the show had been building with its characters, narrative and themes is perfectly wrapped up in a way that feels so natural and unrushed. Makishima realises that he has failed and comes to peace with the world in his final moments, Kogami gets his unjust revenge and accepts life in solitude for that, Akane reaches the conclusion that even if the world is filled with strife today, the only logical option is to try to keep what peace remains and hope for a better future. Even the side characters all get befitting ends to their own little stories.

Episode 8 of Space Dandy S2. Space Dandy was a real mixed bag, but goddamn there were some gems in there.
