I can attest that all the drama, rivalries, weight-watching, and training happens in real life. It's nice to finally see a realistic skating anime without the shitty mahou shoujo antics.

I liked the animation budget for the first episode. Interested to see how much a quality dip ep2 takes. I kind of wish they just made everyone girls. As much as I love the hot guys, Yuri's narrating just makes him sound like a female, I can't really take his character seriously.

Am I the only one who feels bad for Yuri? I just find it hard to empathize with the MC when he's literally getting his dream because of some unknown reason while someone who actually earned it is getting cast aside for him.

I was reading episode summaries from tumblr, and if they are true then

Yuri goes to Japan to take Victor back to train him in Russia since he promised him he would help him win the Senior thing if he won the Junior thing which he got gold in. Victor decides that Jap Yuri and Russian Yuri will do a skate-off for who he will train. In the end, Jap Yuri wins and the end of the 3rd ep is Russian Yuri taking his suitcase and leaving the rink because he already knows Victor will choose the other Yuri.

I think what I do not like from Viktor's behaviour is that impulsive side of him. Because not only he broke a promise to a kid, he was not upfront and honest with him to begin with. As an adult, he should to talk to Yuri about what he is about to do and not let the kid hope thus promoting Yuri going to Japan and having a skate-off no less because Viktor demands it but also losing so easily since it was obvious if Viktor was willing to make such a rush desicion and leave Russia for a Nip, then I doubt he would choose Yuri only because he came to bring him to not break his promise.
