What does /a/ think of AKIRA, the film and the manga as well as the possibility of a live-action adaptation?

Ienjoyedthe film

never knew of adaptation possibility though I probably wont watch it anyway

>the possibility of a live-action adaptation?
hell no
movie is one of the best, if not the best, animated films of all time.
Manga is really good at its best, and really tedious/annoying at its worst.
A live action adaptation would be fucking garbage
The film is shit

I liked the movie
I loved the manga
No, just no.
The film is phenomenal. Not particularly interested in reading the manga.
OP here. I recently rewatched the film and am probably going to read the manga now. Should I continue from where the film left off? I've heard that content was shortened/cut for the film.

You should, the film is like half of the manga except changed to have a whole plot. Manga's second half is post apocalyptic.

Start from beginning.

Alrighty then. Also if someone were to direct a live-action AKIRA film, who would you want for it? Apparently Justin Lin is in talks for it.

I dunno, the film's pretty satisfying and concise. I don't feel the need for anything extra, although I'm sure it's as you and everyone say.

Yeah the plot was pretty much edited and trimmed to make sense with just the first half. Like having Akira just be a bunch of organs instead of a living child. I'm not saying it did a bad job but you really should give the manga a read to have an alternate experience of it.
volume 5 is intense

Love the film.
Fucking love the manga.Currently working on a pitch.
It makes me sad that the future won't be like this.

Will only watch the live-action adaptation if Kaneda is played by Kanye West.

That would be something and knowing hollywood, I wouldn't be surprised.
