Who here can admit that this is one of the best romantic comedies with one of the shittest movie conclusions ever?
>>
>>146996703
I'm like 14 episodes into it and it keeps getting more unbearable with each one. It's watchable, but it only gets more ruse heavy the more it goes on and at this point I'm worried they'll just give up or outright retcon anything that made the characters potentially interesting in the first few episodes. The show has done practically nothing with the secondary leads at all to boot.
>>
>>146996703
No, this was an annoying shit with annoying characters, situations and interactions.
>>
>>146996703

This is the anime right here that finally turned me off love triangles for good. 4 years later after watching and i'm still mad.
>>
>>146996968
Yeah, I'm angry that /tv/ told me it was good.
>>
>>146997051

Heh why'd you take advice from those nerds?
>>
>>146996968
What happens? Can you tell me with spoiler tags?
>>
>>146996837
>secondary leads
The sisters get some spotlight in a couple episodes but not much more than that. The only character I found remotely interesting was Ayukawa but they hardly even tough on her past which I thought would of been a big revelation at some point.
>>146996968
What got me was what happened with Yuusaku. What the fuck happened to him? The whole situation could of been tied off easily after the series but having him out was fucking retarded.
>>
>>146997183
>they hardly even tough on her past

I'm done watching it then. That was the only thing that had kept me going, but knowing this, there's no point in anything at all. The way they tease her as being this complex, beyond her years worldly character would be fascinating if they didn't cop out of it all.

As it stands Sailor Moon is still the gold standard teenage SoL/drama and nothing I've seen has come close to dethroning it.
>>
Ayukawa is best girl.
>>
>>146997347
She's pretty witty but there wasn't the depth I thought there'd be. I still got some enjoyment out of watching this, the last 2 episodes had a nice tie in with the beginning/themselves. Kazuya's episodes were pretty funny, and the hypnotism episode too. The movie though was plan dumb.
Overall I got more out of this than Toradora, Golden Time, and all the others I've sifted through. Still need to watch Sailor Moon.
>>
>>146996703

This is a poor man's Urusei Yatsura
>>
>one of the shittest movie conclusions ever
No way. The series was cute, but all in all it was a pretty run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. The movie was so refreshingly raw in its emotions, and pretty much the reason it's so memorable.

>admit
Why would we admit something that isn't true. KOR is the biggest example of 'misunderstandings' in anime. The entire plot is built on two misunderstandings in episode 1. Which don't get resolved until the very last episode. In between, the other 50 episodes are each built on a separate misunderstanding.

I actually hate myself for watching the whole thing.
>>
>>146998257
It was raw, and I'm not against that at all. Kasuga doing a total 180 and shitting on Hikaru was just annoying. He was so indecisive throughout the whole show and then becomes a Chad. Granted I don't think he should of been with her, but the whole direction just seemed rushed.
>>146998441
Which was the other misunderstanding beside Hikaru getting wet from him tossing the basketball?
>>
>>146998475

The fact that Ayukawa and the MC blatantly like each other the moment they first meet, then they meet again on the first day of school. But before the MC can ask her out, Hikaru 'claims' him. The entire show basically would have been skipped if he just said 'no, I like Ayukawa more'.
>>
>>146998475

It was tough love and a whole shit ton of guilt. The length of the misunderstanding only made the events of the movie worse.

I find it weird people don't understand this. The actions of Kasuga and Ayukawa in the film were understandable, but not sympathetic. That's the difference. You're not SUPPOSED to be happy for them finally getting together, because you know they fucked up along the way, and they know it too.

Best part about KOR is how 80s it is, but that often works when it's condensed down into like an OVA or something. Long drawn out and kind of dull describes most of KOR, but dem OPs.
>>
>>146998927
>You're not SUPPOSED to be happy for them finally getting together, because you know they fucked up along the way, and they know it too.
It's funny to piece it together like that, even knowing they would end up as a couple in the end it still sort of sours the whole show seeing it play out. Just sort of bullshit having to watch it all come to a conclusion based on how it started.
I'm still trying to figure out what it is I actually liked that kept me watching the whole way through. Guess it was just the character designs.

I just finished this two days ago and man that ending was satisfying. Those last 4 episodes were so good

It's a great-looking anime for reasons that aren't vaporwave but yeah you can get that in other Pierrot anime.

I ended up having to spread it over the course of a year to actual finish.

it's a pretty bad show
the only thing good is le 80s meme
otherwise you'd shit on it like other shitty modern romcoms

What retard made this picture? Sailor Moon Super S is great just like the other seasons. And who the fuck complains about Usagi while advising people to watch Sailormoon? She's the heart of the show. Season 3 onwards animation is very good for a long-running old show too. Triggered.

Top tier romcom.

That's like, one episode which I still haven't seen since I instinctively felt it would be completely pointless.

>>146999914
> Sailor Moon Super S is great just like the other seasons.

Agreed, I have no idea why people hate it so much. The fact that they list Nehellenia as the highlight of the arc shows the stupidity involved. It adds so much to the series and actually improves so much on what the earlier seasons did.

> And who the fuck complains about Usagi while advising people to watch Sailormoon? She's the heart of the show.

Anime Usagi is the worst incarnation of her character though, she's much more complex and less annoying in the other versions, even if they lack what the anime provides. The old anime doesn't even go into the shit about her being suicidal and trying to overcome that.

>>147005550

You can just skip the OVA, it's retold later anyways. It's like a manga oneshot.
>>
>>146999914
>>147001463
So from what I'm hearing I shouldn't be skipping any part then right?
>>
>>147009597
There's nothing to skip in original Sailor Moon other than one dinosaur episode. All other episodes range from okay to great.
>>
>>147009597
There are certain episodes that I would honestly recommend skipping if you don't care for them, naturally including the dinosaur one, but there are no parts or overall sections that I'd advise you to skip on first watch and I would not recommend using any existing episode guides (as all of them advise you to skip some of the best episodes). Some of the episodes are genuinely both pointless and actively terrible to the point they're better skipped, but I'll only discuss this at your request.

To explain more though, there's a longstanding hatred of the SuperS season (which is NOT the S season) which is only recently turning around here as people recognize how solid and clever it actually is, which for whatever reason didn't happen much, much earlier. In a word, SuperS is heavily driven by character over plot, and many people found this felt out of placed compared to the more plot heavy parts of the later seasons. I, personally think that Sailor Moon is best when it is plot heavy, but despite this I'd consider SuperS to be one of the better parts of the show as it explores the characters in so many ways.

The original '90s anime is overall the best single way the experience Sailor Moon on the whole, but there are reasons to check out the other versions in order to compliment the experience if you end up begin so curious. Enjoy.

You may get something out of watching it. I like the character designs and the whole 80's vibe, but it's no masterpiece.

Well that's the second movie that came out in 1996. The 1988 movie is the same style but with a different director.
