Yeah they didn't need to make her so insecure. I remember Kodaka (or maybe one of the other main staff members?) making a big deal about DR3's cast being mostly adults, but most of the characters ended up acting more like teenagers than a lot of DR1&2's characters.

Assemble these facts together, and there's only one possibility - the Munakata participating in the game isn't Munakata, it's the 13th branch head mindfucked to believe that they're Munakata. He's the second Kamakura project, and this whole 'killing game' was initially designed to attempt to breed hope from despair by using fake corpses, fake deaths with sleeping toxins, and so forth, administrated by the real Munakata and Chisa, but the game was hijacked by our madman Komaeda, who instead turned it into a lethal battleground between potential Ultimate 'Hopes'.

Mitarai still thinks that the plan is on, because of Kazuo's faked dying message. Ostensibly, his role is to choose the next participant to be 'tested' with the despair mindhack anime. Chisa and Munakata were supposed to intervene if anyone tried to kill themselves, but, due to their absence, every test failure has resulted in actual death instead.

Chisa died at the beginning from her NG code after the real Munakata was killed and was stashed somewhere at the start of the game. Her makeup is clearly running, meaning that even if she died from her NG code, there would be no way to tell that she did, just like with Izayoi. In episode 1, we saw blood running from her eyes and out of her mouth, the very same symptoms of the poison.
