I just finished it and I didn't like the ending. I made a post in another thread about this (it's dead anyway), but whatever.

The final race against Ryosuke was pretty boring since they had already shown two races right before, both being more than just a normal race (Keisuke showing off how he's improved, and a race in the rain), and making Ryosuke seem like a bit of a chump instead of this super fast racer.

The Mako and Iketani thing gave me some real feels, but they shouldn't have played the conclusion off as a joke with the "lonely driver" thing.

Maybe I'm looking too much into this series, but episodes 16-20 were some good shit.

Jumping four feet over hairpin turns like that MR2 does would do some damage

What car, and is it automatic or manual?

If it's RWD and manual, go to a parking lot without barriers or lightpoles, when it's raining or snowy, put it in first and drive in a tight circle, accelerating until the rear wheels break traction. The next thing is getting a feel for countersteer. If you were turning right, then the car starts to slide, turn your wheel to the left. It should feel natural, and keep your foot on the gas until you want to stop. Once you feel how the car breaks traction, and have the hang of countersteer, go from there. You could do the same thing with an automatic, just put it in the lowest possible setting, PRND32L, select L.

Oh yeah, and when you let off the gas or run out of revs and stop sliding, snap the wheel back to straight. If you're countersteering the front wheels aren't pointing in a natural direction, and will suddenly start working normally once the rear wheels regain grip.

If you've seen initial D, there's that part where takumi rides with iketani in the s13 and the drifting is sloppy, the car fishtails when coming out of the corners. That's why you snap the wheel straight, so you don't fishtail or worse coming out of a drift.

Yeah, it is a '89 S5 FC3S. In all honesty though, I wouldn't get one. I've had to replace the engine, transmission, brakes, abs, and redo the wiring.

If you do buy this car (which I highly recommended that you don't) you are going to spend a lot of time fixing it. The apex seals are a meme for a reason.

Also, buy a '89-'91 model (if you can find one). The '86-'88 models are all shit-tier.

Sorry I can't say specific model or engine since I didn't read it myself. I was interested in older Mazdas but was put off by a friend of mine who told me of a guy on an auto forum who documented his rebuilding of a Mazda engine in an older model. He said the guy called his local Mazda dealer for an engine part, I want to say they were apex seals as you mentioned in a previous post and they sold the guy the very last set of seals in the country from a dealer 8 states away. He paid for them on the spot and when they delivered them to his closest dealer, the guy at the desk told him he beat another buyer to the punch by 15 minutes. They guy said he was gonna rebuild the engine, have his last bit of fun with it and the moment it started burning a bit too much oil, sell it since it would be far from worth it at that point.

'95 RX-7. I bought her for about $3500 a few years back and fixed it up. Engine was okay, about 60k miles but the body needed a lot of work. I've had a lot of offers to buy it lately, so I guess it's getting popular again. I'll tell you though, Mazda is dog shit when it comes to part replacement in America. I had to replace a drive shaft, and the FD has a really specific shaft spec. Mazda hung up on me when trying to call them to ask about a possible replacement. I ended up doing a full replacement with an aftermarket drive shaft set, which I'm happy with, but fuck Mazda.

But hey, if you have an older Miata, you're golden. There's a guy in the Maryland/Jersey/Delaware/DC area that has a lot full of Miata's and he's selling them on the cheap. A good, well taken care of one with about 80k miles is $2500. There's a massive OEM/Aftermarket community built around outfitting Miata's. You can do some seriously cool stuff with them. One of the locals here has a Miata he's tricked out for drifting and it's beautiful to watch go through some paces on the more curvy roads.
