What's the essential Doraemon Recommended? I was a huge Doraemon-fan growing up and this movie sure tugged all the right nostalgia strings.w

Nobita's Dinosaur

Keep in mind the movies are more adventure oriented.
Secret Gadget Museum is underrated.

Steel Troops, both old and new ones.
I never really liked anime Doraemon, I have physical copies of the manga and prefer those.
vol 1-45

This.
I find that many movies seem like forced drama.
There are quite a few chapters that never made it into the commonly known volumes, main series (1-45) or PLUS (1-6), but did they ever get reprinted outside of the original publishing?

wait, there are only 45 volumes? Neat, maybe I can find a complete set somewhere here. They've been locally translating this series here and releasing them officially in Flipland and while a lot of people here often cringe at these local translations I often find them more affordable than the imported English ones and somewhat more charming because of the local flavor. For comparison, one volume of the locally translated Doraemon and Detective Conan books costs like $2 or something (That's Volume not a chapter a frigging volume) while the English ones costs like $10? It uses cheaper paper and is physically smaller though but I don't really mind that. (They also locally translated Fairy Tail and Attack on Titan)

I'm American and import the physical versions of the Amazon Digital-only English translation through a friend in Singapore. Really wish Shogakukan Asia would release more past the first 4 volumes, don't wanna break my "no digital" rule, but having watched the American dub for Stand By Me recently (which was really good) really makes me hunger for more Doraemon.

This, definitely. Both are good and worth watching, but New Steel Troops does a bit more with the plot and premise. Also fuck yeah robots.

This (my personal favourite)

>Steeltroop 2010
And this.
Nobita's Dinosaur is pretty much the "base" Doraemon movie; a lot of the other movies follow the same basic formula. But despite this it manages to remain good and stand on its own instead of becoming just another Doraemon movie.
Wish I had Doraemon as a kid
It would have easily been my favorite show. lways loved stuff like it.
