Their ideologies on animation production are completely irreconcilable with each other even if they kind of seem to be shooting for the same late night otaku audience. Kyoani likes to take it's due time with stuff and maybe do a couple projects a year and focus their energies and resources on them in a quality over quantity approach at least in terms of visuals. Aniplex is about a mass production kind of approach where the goal is cranking out dozens of things every season from dirt poor studios that can't support themselves or subsidiaries like A-1 based on whatever popular licenses they can convince other copyright holders to hand over to them which is apparently a lot.

Aniplex doesn't care how many projects they take or how far back all their shit ends up getting pushed on the production line as long as they hold the rights to adapt something popular and can crank it out at some point in the next few years. Then they use things like event tickets, box sets and single episode half price discs to try to get the ones labelled kuso anime by Japanese fans to sell anyway even if half of them come out ending up looking like garbage and complete production trainwrecks of shows. Aniplex would hate working with someone like Kyoani that doesn't just say yes to all of their edicts and likewise Kyoani would hate working with a corporation like Aniplex that'll just force all of it's shilled seiyuu, writers and musicians onto them and try to force them to cut corners and crank out like 5 shows for them a year.
