I'm not an art critic or anything, but I think it has to do with how stylized everything is. Or maybe the way in which everything is stylized.

Locations are presented in a "perfect" manner. Like, no trash, no rust, nothing out of place. Even the ruined cram school is very aesthetic. On the flip side, every scene is very inorganic. I mean, it's very static and "lifeless". This contrasts very heavily with the characters who come to these spaces, because they're usually very animated. They're always turning their head or tilting it, making wild exaggerated gestures with their hand. They're constantly in motion which sets up a very nice separation from the setting itself.

Besides that, it's just illustrated well in general. There's enough attention to detail that everything looks very nice and fluid. Fights are cool and flow well, but so do just regular scenes. Anything boring is broken up with animation of something interesting. Like the Suruga Devil chapter where Suruga is talking to Numachi, there's all sorts of animation and stuff going on in the background.

Kanbaru is a bit of a fake perv around Araragi because she knows deep down she's not actually going to be able to get with him (or crab, for that matter, though I'm not sure how strongly she actually feels towards the opposite sex). She goes to a certain length with Araragi to get the reaction she wants, so it's hard to know exactly how she'd react if someone reciprocated those kind of advances or just reacted in an unexpected way.

She does read a lot of BL novels, so to call her a fake perv doesn't seem completely right. I'd just say we don't know exactly how far she'd be willing to go. I'm also not sure how far she'd go with her apparent bisexuality. In Hana, she seemed to be into kissing Numachi, and even wondered if she should have kissed her before she disappeared. And her issues took about the same amount of time to take care of as anyone else's. He's fine. I'd almost expect Nisio to go full fightan and we get more actual battles instead of weird things like Hanekawa hulking out on two vamps and not getting to see it, or that part in Tsubasa Tiger where Cat, Bat, and Doll fought together and he totally put it aside.

I don't really get what's going on with Tsukihi. She's an immortal oddity, but she still ages like usual, right? Obviously she was a baby at some point and slowly grew up like a regular human, but what happens later? Will she retain a young appearance forever? Will she grow old and then one day burst into flame like a real phoenix? Do we know yet?

Kanbaru becoming an exorcist is the only good end for her.
She's the one character that isn't Araragi that has the strongest connections to the previous generations of oddity hunters.
Yozuru knows she's Izuko's niece, Oshino knows the same, Kaiki takes care of Kanbaru on behalf of Tooe, Gaen has a massive boner for Kanbaru's potential and wants to recruit her and Tooe's existence is what saved Kanbaru from being murdered by our friend Teori.

The fact she's a Gaen and a natural in oddity-related issues is just a bonus.

Nadeko? Not really. She gets a little in one of the books and no longer calls him Koyomi-oniisan but aside from that, she's generally just drawing shit that Yotsugi brings to life to either accidentally kill Tsukihi or create her own Shikigami that accidentally go wild.

Finally catching up on Owarimonogatari.

Does anyone know specifically what this transformation effect is? It's probably a continuous function that maps to and from the 2d plane like what you'd find in those webcam apps, but I'm wondering if anybody can tell what this transformation is just by the looks of it.
