I dont quite know where you guys are getting at, iconic stills are often just copied from the manga. While they do storyboards for the anime, the manga is always there and they often times adapt scenes without changing anything.

I really appreciate this honestly, these kind of shots should try to be one-to-one with the manga. It's a shame that its clashes with the CGI but it's means that the most important parts look the best. An example of the opposite is the recent Jojo episode most of the episode looks great no part was one-to-one with the manga and the most important part (Killer Queens reveal) ended up look incredibly jarring and off.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it besides the CGI Charlotte. The CGI was wonky at times, sure, but by the second movie it was much improved and by the third they had perfected it. The fight with Silat and the Eclipse were visually stunning.

Griffith is able to fake his poisoning, escape from the Ball, have the tower burn down, gloat to the Queen from the streets to the top of the tower, and then escape back to the Ball without anyone noticing him? The Queen plot distracts from what should be the main focus - Guts and Casca's reaction to Griffith finally reaching the heights of his dream and what that means for them as individuals. Nobles trying to kill Griffith yet again for being an upjumped commoner is just pointless filler.

Aight so about the queen plot and griffith pre-eclipse in general. Up until this point weve had one other attempt at his life by a member of the court as another anon pointed out but i dont think they got the purpose of it at all. Guts killing them was the point, the length guts would go for grif not just as a commander but something closer. Also guts and his limits to violence that continues throughout the manga (he doesnt like killing kids, even apostle-kids) this is important because it informs us even more about his days as a kid, what he had to deal with and how it effected him. Being betrayed by his father, blamed for both parents deaths etc. So killing a kid was a big deal for guts here but he did it. I do wonder what he would have said to grif if he had the chance before the main plot kicked in with the fountain scene but at that point it doesnt matter.
So since the first attempt was for guts to be shown of the second attempt will be for grif. At this point in the story we know grif pretty well but have never seen him really deal with someone trying to kill him. I mean, weve seen him fight and know he wins on the battle field but not how he FEELS about it, HOW he kills. We get the idea of him seeing it as just another thing to do, pile more bodies to reach his dream. But we get to see that hes not so cold and calculating as all that.
Another anon pointed out how it was kind of silly, just how crazy his plan gets. And i think even for how smart grif is it is a bit of a stretch. Unless you remember that he started this plan days after the first attempt on his life by a member of the court. Given that amount of time and planning, its not too insane. But the core of the queen plot is to show how grif deals with these sort of things on a personal level. And i think the talk with the queen right before her death rivals the scene after he sells himself for his troops in terms of giving us details on who he is as a person.

HAVING SAID THAT, the movies where fine and a great way for someone new to get into berserk which is what i think they are for. I miss wayld to because my god is that fight fun but whatever. I was pissed at the "whirlwind" scene at the start of the last episode, the panel in the manga show's Guts like a black blur; but the show slowed it down to fuck and gave a weird POV view from the sword's hilt

also the scene after Guts breaks Serpico's sword, and Serpico swings down the cliff ledge to get behind Guts
