I don't really want to see how Farlyn came back wrong or whatever. I don't need drama in my comfy foodie adventure.
>>
>>145683846
I imagine the various ways Farlyn may be fucked up.
e.g. a warg penis bone (i know penises don't have bones) got confused with a finger bone so now Farlyn has the urge to masturbate like a warg in heat.
e.g. the magic marcille used resulted in an imperfect resurrection that now requires her to consume souls to stabilize herself. que: farlyn eating her way through the dungeon.
e.g. farlyn is now a werewolf because of a mixed up warg bone and gets the urge to run around on all fours like a dog on full-moons.

Alternatively, there's always elf porn.

Okay, theory time

>Marcille uses dark arts to use the meat and energy of the Dragon to restore Farlyn
>Farlyn seen grabbing her neck and squinting her eye, both spots where the dragon was injured
>Farlyn is now (to some unknown degree) spiritually connected to the dragon

Assuming the dragon was under the control of the dungeon master, we can assume that he'll have some influence over Farlyn
Either she'll be recieving messages that he sends out to all the dungeons monsters, or she'll be a puppet at certain times, including any confrontation with the dm.

Am I crazy or am I right

I'm honestly kind of thinking the same thing, I just finished the new chapter.
BUT
The thing is, Red Dragon IV didn't exactly end on a cliffhanger. They successfully uncovered Farlyn's body at the end of that one, but the only references to the resurrection potentially being impossible at that state were more like implications than anything else. I think the author seriously could be up to something here.
I can see a continuation where Farlyn is back and alive, but I have a strong feeling that the "dark magic" is not going to be without unforeseen consequences. The fact that most of the "but will it work?" worrying came in this chapter, that Marcille's dark magic was only revealed now, the fact that Marcille fainted during the ritual, and the fact that Farlyn's injuries seem to mirror the dragon's could all be signs that something's up. A plotline about the ritual having failed or performed incorrectly could also fit suspiciously well into Marcille's known character weakness: feeling helpless.
All in all, I think this COULD be the end of the manga, but I'm honestly not sure: there's a lot left to work with if it's not. I'm mostly just hoping that this isn't some kind of surprise end to wrap up to an editor-mandated conclusion.
>>
>>145693519
It's not really a bad kind of asspull. It wasn't really foreshadowed, but it's not something that's hard to believe, and it makes a lot of sense considering what we know of marcille.

Foreshadowing isn't a requirement, as long as the twist is sensible.
>>
>>145694159
Right, but what I'm questioning is why this "twist" was even necessary. The likelihood of the resurrection wasn't emphasized as nigh-impossible until this chapter, only risky or unlikely to succeed. So the question becomes "Why did the author choose to have this twist?" The answer must be either that the author thought they had made the resurrection seem unlikely enough that a twist was necessary and that the end of the story is nigh, or that this twist will have further, unexpected results. And as I pointed out, there's a lot of ground for those results to build alongside.
>>
>>145694479
Because their plan depended largely on the dragon being dormant and with his metabolism slowed so Farilyn wouldn't be completely digested. Finding the dragon asleep and killing it would have been boring, so it was awake and active, but so his digestion was active as well. Thus the likelihood of Farilyns revival dropped significantly, and rather than have them drop the ADVENTURE and trek all the way to the beginning, Marcille stepped up. Now they don't have the pressing need to return to the surface, and whatever reason pops up in the next chapter or two to keep their adventure going won't be at odds with the priority of resurrecting Farilyn.
>>
>>145694479
To be honest I don't think Farlyn is dead. That body looks like if it was digested way time ago.
>>
>>145693519
They wouldn't call it dark magic if there weren't any consequences, it would just be forgotten or obsolete magic then.
>>
>>145693519
>and the fact that Farlyn's injuries seem to mirror the dragon's
Also stop that shit, she has no injuries. She was choking on blood so her hands were on her throat and her eyes were half closed because she had blood all over her face and hair.
>>
>>145694734
She didn't call it dark magic.
>>
>>145694712
You do realize the trip down didn't take a day, right?

And, well... the fact that resurrecting the bones made a Farilyn, not someone else.
>>
>>145694479
The dwarf woman's explanation of resurrection difficulties in CH 22 made the "twist" believable to me. Specifically "If more than 1/3 of your body is lost or turned to ash, the chances of successful resurrection drop drastically". Considering that your bones are only about 15% of your body (by mass), I would have considered bringing someone back to life with nothing but their bones to be a stupendously difficult task by normal means.
>>
I don't, my gun is loaded and the rope is tied. Gonna get myself coming and going if you get my meaning.
>>
>>145686981
She is probably partially Warg now. She barks and howls when excited.
>>
>>145694675
>Now they don't have the pressing need to return to the surface, and whatever reason pops up in the next chapter or two to keep their adventure going won't be at odds with the priority of resurrecting Farilyn.
I was honestly going from the idea that Farlyn's resurrection being slightly botched somehow could be a catalyst for further adventure, but it could be that there's nothing wrong after all and the adventure could continue anyway. I guess I just hadn't considered it, but from where the manga begins this still seems like a possible ending point if it IS ending here.
>>145694734
>>145694790
SHE didn't call it dark magic, but Senshi did. SHE also used the word "forbidden," I believe, which is definitely not a word commonly associated with happy sunshine charms. >>145694734 is right: magic that its caster can refer to as "forbidden" doesn't bode well.
>>145694743
That's fair, but what's set Dungeon Meshi apart so much is the author's attention to detail. Usually those details are made obvious, but I would definitely not put it past the author to have the location of the injuries be relevant somehow.
>>
>>145695030
>in the next chapter, Laius pats Farlyn on the head

>>145694873
>Considering that your bones are only about 15% of your body (by mass), I would have considered bringing someone back to life with nothing but their bones to be a stupendously difficult task by normal means.
Now that I know that, I'm a little surprised they didn't mention that itself.
>>
>>145683846
Rather bad considering monthly releases nowadays barely have more pages than your average weekly shonen jump manga chapter.
They usualy have 4-4.5 times as much time for a chapter, but they deliver at best 1.5-2.5 times as much material and the art is not even sonsiderably superior , so they lack an excuse on that front.
>>145687039
Well for once she was revived out of dragon flesh, so she might have some kinda dragon type attributes or abilities now.
Less need for food over longer durations, some kind of elemental or magic resistence and so on.
Also she was brought back by dark arts, so going the average cliche route she is herself, while not being herself.
It is her mind and soul, but they are degraded or corrupted in some kinda way.

For me I just hope we will now finaly also be able to get some Farlyn lewd.
Alone the fact that there are so many Marcile doujin surprised me.
There are long running manga with an anime that have barely as much doujin.
>>
>>145695200
Senshi isn't a mage or even versed on the subject. What's important is why it is forbidden, which could go from having actual dangerous consequences to baseless superstition to just the effects of the standard resurrection monopoly lobbying to remove competition. But yeah, I won't pretend it sounds nice and there's clearly a stigma, which is why she kept it secret. But she also says herself, there's no good and evil in magic.

>but I would definitely not put it past the author to have the location of the injuries be relevant somehow.
Yes but again, they're not injuries. She's not injured. She was choking and covered in blood.

>Laius must now struggle with a strong desire to devour/pet his sister

>>145694873
Turns out I got something wrong. She didn't say 1/3rd, she said 1/13th. That makes it even worse.
>>
>>145695411
>there's no good and evil in magic
What she means is that it depends on the user and his/her goals.
Still we know that she is not all knowing, so she could be speaking out of her ass here aswell to defend magic.
>>
>>145688994
There was blood in her windpipe. She was choking.
>>
>>145695411
>Yes but again, they're not injuries.
I had a rebuttal lined up for a few minutes there where I was going to argue that our best view of her in the chapter, in >>145688264, is not enough information to show she's uninjured, because her eye is closed and the throat is not only covered but also in shadow. I even had a closing thought where I suggested that the fact these areas are both obscured suggests that there's a reason they're obscured in the first place.

But then I realized that, if Farlyn's wounds really did mirror the dragon's, she should also have a big gash in her stomach. Maybe because the dragon received that wound after it died? Either way, at this point the idea that Farlyn's body could or would mirror the dragon's wounds is mostly insubstantial and based on pretty out-there speculation. You're right.
>>
>>145695865
1/13?
Really?
Might this not be a typo error?
Huge failure chances if only 1/13 of the body is missing already.
Assuming she weights somewhere between 50kg and 60kg that is somewhat between 3.85lg and 4.62kg.
That really is not much.
Her being at roughly 15% remaining would mean she is at only 7.5kg to 9kg for the bones.
Chance of ressurrection would be neigh impossible now.
>>
>>145693519
She could breathe fire. Her skin is heat resistant. It could be a bunch of advantages because a dragon was used.
>>
>>145695933
>What she means is that it depends on the user and his/her goals.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. She didn't really explicate the thought, so it might be that she thinks magic exists to be used.

It might be that she simply thinks there's no such thing as "good" or "evil" magic (which, for all we know, could be true or false. The fact that she and Farlyn, the more "white mage"-ish of the two, studied at the same school could suggest that there's no formal distinction between good and evil magic at least).
>>
>>145696072

>and a big scar on its forehead
>and a penis because the dragon is male
>>
>>145696150
Well regardless of what the actuall reason is, we seem to agree that she might be talking over her head here and that what she said might not be true.
>>
>>145696072
I wonder why /a/ latched on to the eye thing when she opens her eye in literally the next panel of the same page. She has no wound, never did, she was choking and bloody and teared up because of it.
>>
>>145695735
>Laius has to pound his sister to take her out of heat

Imagine the possibilities.
>>
>>145696085
>>145695865
If that's true, it would mean that death is much more intimidating than I thought it was before in this series. You could wind up permadead just for losing an arm or something. Or could they just regrow it? We've seen amputated limbs re-connected, but I guess that doesn't mean they can make somebody's body go full salamander. Would be surprising if they couldn't, because resurrection is a thing, but still.

Aiigh, I just wish I could pick the author's brain about the intricacies of how the magic all works in this. It really does seem like she has it all figured out somewhere and is only dropping parts of it in when it's necessary.
>>
>>145696085
It's part of why they freaked when they saw the skellington.
>>
>>145696273
lol at the dragon dick, but the scar is actually kinda interesting. After all, a scar IS a type of wound, just a really old one. If you wanted to say that the resurrection gave her the same wounds as the dragon, would she also have something on her forehead?
>>145696378
I just checked it and fuck, you're right. That theory is definitely debunked, then, good catch
It probably caught on because confirmation bias, and because all the evidence for it was in one big picture (easy for resposting[although I'm not sure how long this chapter's been out or how long this theory's been going])
>>
What I really don't get is why resurrection magic exists if the main reason it works is because the dungeon keeps spirits bound to bodies.
>>
>>145696085
I just looked at the raws, and indeed it is 1/13th (written as 13分の1). I guess most revivals are done for stab wounds, suffocation, blunt force trauma, or starvation.
>>
>>145696472
>lol

>>
>>145696392
Well a completly severed limb might work different if the rest of the body is intact.
A leg alone is more than 1/13, so maybe it will still work well if the body is intact despite that and you are simply revived as a cripple.

>>
>>145696477
There's real money in exploiting that spirit-binding shtick, I guess.
>>
>>145696577
Wow, that really something.
So they at least cannot revive any lil shit.
I wonder what about natural death or age and so on.
Would their revival magic work if the person died in the dungeon and the soul is bound to the corpse, despite the body not being able to function anymore.
Would not the person die instantly again, as it seems the magic does not rejuvinate, but just returns you to a state prior to your death.

Simple. Because Elves can craft magic that keeps souls bound to their bodies.

Good answer.
>>
>>145696719
Well, it seems to have existed before, but the likelyhood of success is lower, the nature of the dungeon seems to help with the magic.
The mage is probably that elf from the pictures, that went insane after his friend the king got assassinated.
He in secret experimented in binding the soul or even recalling it, but this is actually lich tier stuff and he fucked up majorily to some kinda degree for the country (most likely not from his point of view).
Probably blamed the son who took over the rule.
Shit went down and the son/new king managed to reach the end of the dungeon and told the first people about the dark mage and bringing him down and so on.

At least that is my guess.

I also conclude that the pictures are not actually fake worlds, but some kinda dream, memory connection thing for the elf mage.
Some kinda subconsciouses thing.
The important part for that is that he recognized Laius from the first picture with the birth of the prince in the later one.
So most likely Laius enter the mages subconscious and he could not comprehend that it was outside influence.

Another option would be some form of time travel hijinks.
The people in the past remember him, but he cannot bring stuff back with him, that is why he stayed hungry.
The elf mage thought he was suspicious and only later realized that Laius was a human that did not age for several decades which should not work.
So in return it is Laius that caused him to go down the path of Lich.

>>
>>145696392
Earlier in the chapter Marcille talks about hauling cartloads of dead sheep to provide biomass. The problem isn't that they can't revive a skeleton, the problem is they need a skilled resurrectionist to do it (that would be the Tances, but they don't work for free) and they don't have time. Marcille can't even do normal resurrection but she can do forbidden dark arts, so she does.
>>
How did they get the frog suits off?
>>
>>145697571

pretty much.

But they don't say whether the dungeon was discovered yet/the resurrection business was big at the time.

So dude could have just have had bad timing and died too early to take advantage of his soul binding. How long could you stand to be trapped in your own corpse? Dude was dead just "the other day" and was already going crazy.

It would be awfully coy of the author to set it up as forbidden and ignore the question of side effects. At the very least they'll face consequences for it when people realize there was no way anyone who was in the dungeon could have done it. Remember, in the Namari chapter she mentions that they keep the really hard resurrection cases in storage until someone can come from the mainland every few months.

And remember we're being set up to get more characters. Namari's befriending the brown twins, the gnome couple got the governor to boost dungeon bounties, Sureau is off on his own personal quest to find Farlyn, and the scrubs got resurrected again and are probably really really pissed.

For that matter, a dragon corpse is definitely very valuable, and after they ate what they could it would definitely be important to harvest it for leather, teeth, claws and bones. The only issue is its size, so it would be hard to bring it back to the surface unless they have a town portal spell handy.

The undead feel cold. We just had that scene from Farlyn's past with the ghost, who specifically said he felt cold. This is evidence in favor of her potentially being undead, not against it.

But I don't think she'd be a normal undead. I just think she might not be as fully living as a more modern resurrection spell would do.

>>145698850
>what would constitute as symbolism isn't there
Immediately after being resurrected using flesh that had a wound in the throat and left eye, she puts her hand over her throat and left eye. That's fucking symbolism. Mentally, she'll be fine once she gets some food. As for the side effects, I don't think they'll be negative. I think her body just got mixed in with the medium that used. They don't have to worry about the dragon's soul though.

In short, I think Farlyn will have heat resistant skin or be able to breathe fire.

>>
>>145699690

Her one eye, the one corresponding to the one the dragon lost, at the same time that her throat (not her mouth, where the hand would normally go when coughing) is covered in a similar way.

Maybe it will turn out to mean nothing and is just there to get us talking over the wait until October. Maybe it's just aesthetics to bring home how ancient and fucked up the magic is, like most of what Marcille did to prepare for the spell probably is. But it's definitely an intentional reflection of the Dragon's wounds.

>>
>>145699835
>They don't have to worry about the dragon's soul though.
That's not necessarily a given. While I suspect the dragon's soul won't get involved, it's only confirmed that souls aren't trapped by the dungeon's magic, that doesn't mean they can't linger a short while after death normally.

It would be if it was a different author, but what's probably going to happen is that they discover the dragon's soul, along with some of it's biological components, got mixed in during the resurrection process, which was established kinda right before they went to fight the dragon, so instead of things becoming dark and edgy in dealing with the reality of their white mage Farlyn becoming mixed up with the soul and body of a dragon, they instead use her to help cook food with dragon fire, and remark on what a unique spicy, smokey flavor it imparts on the food.

It could be so much better that it can be used for evil. Like making supersoldiers. Or if screwing up cause horrifying results. Things don't get banned just for being functionally inferior. In fact if it was inferior then why ban it?No one would use it anyway.

All the banned spells are banned because if it wasn't banned, people WOULD use it.

Eh. Consider the artist's previous stories.
Hero returns after defeating the beast lord, gets drafted/blackmailed in the king's army to fight the neighboring kingdom and gets killed during the war.
Beast lord is a king who was cursed into being a monster, the previous story's king sends army to kill the beast lord. Beastlord kills army and kidnaps princess because a true love kiss will end the curse.
Princess falls in love with beast lord, just before kissing and removing the curse, hero from first story arrives to rescue the princess and kills him.

That's a different person, not me, but in any case making the spell have a drawback of some kind wouldn't make it "grimdark," it's just a common feature of what makes dark magic "dark" in almost every work that features it. Faust, by the way, isn't grimdark. Secondly, the chapters featuring the red dragon have had almost no cooking, but it hasn't "thrown the manga into a completely different direction" at all. Having there be complications of ANY KIND AT ALL probably wouldn't, either.

Rather than have them continually pissed I wonder if they'll catch up while still at the dragon and agree to take some compensation through dragon meat.

Even Laius knows Kensuke betrayed him, it calmed down immediately after jumping out of his hands. Making Laius fully appreciate he'd been naively trusting what is fundamentally a monster at the end of the day.

Which is part of the reason Chillchack was so pissed.

Monsters will betray you at the most opportune time, probably should have noticed how the author quite blatantly juxtaposes the Kelpie with Kensuke.

A trusted monster that betrayed the dwarf at the first opportune moment.

First, realise that medium heat is almost always the most you need unless you are boiling pasta or frying.

Second, understand that many foods finish cooking after you take it off the heat. You might already know this if you know how to make scrambled eggs.

Thirdly, don't neglect seasoning and spices. They make a difference, so don't leave them out like what I used to do. However remember to add the salt LAST in a stew, sauce or soup, so you can adjust it to your liking.

And if you are scientific-minded, you can get yourself a food thermometer. I use it to check meat doneness. Takes the guesswork out.

Lots of animals have penis bones:

"The baculum (also penis bone, penile bone or os penis) is a bone found in the penis of many placental mammals. It is absent in the human penis, but present in the penises of other primates, such as the gorilla and chimpanzee.[1] The bone is located above the male urethra,[2] and it aids sexual reproduction by maintaining sufficient stiffness during sexual penetration. The homologue to the baculum in female mammals is known as the baubellum or os clitoridis– a bone in the clitoris.[3][4][5]"

Laius, of course, would know this, and there is no chance he would have given Farlyn a baculum from a warg, and there only a small chance he might have decided she could use a baubellum.

In general, even though Marcille gets weirded out by some of the stuff Liaus does, she knows he'll always do his best to protect the group when the need arises, and likely respects him for that.

The only problem is that if elves still develop mentally at a normal rate, then it still wouldn't make sense for Marcille to boredly call Chilchack a child and still be in the same class as 14 year old Farlyn.

She wouldn't be so brazen if she was actually younger than Chilchack. Also, if you consider that a race would call a 29 year old a 'child' even if they developed mentally at a normal rate, it'd be kind of weird, because they'd still mentally be adults by the time they're 18/20, even if they live way longer.

It's possible that elves take longer to develop magical energy than humans, since they're longer lived, so they can't enroll in a magic school until a later age.

Also possible she was taking classes there for a long time, and had recently taken interest in dungeon making to be in that specific class with Farlyn.

>>145716904
No, because that's really imaginable and boring progression (the bid bad final boss has some direct influence over the dragon capturing your princess) and more importantly it's not very convincing. If you reeeaaally think about it, the sorcerer undoubtably has immemse power (sunk an entire kingdom and infested it with crazy monsters), and if he can exert such precise control (over ONE exact single creature in his dungeon) and he has some objective in mind (from the dragon's behavior I asumme you asummed it was searching for something), why a big, loud and clumsy red dragon? And if it were something else that require brute strength, why just one red dragon?
I'd rather have some disturbance on the below floors for reasons may or may not be directly related to the dungeon's operation (for example another red dragon) over that convoluted and unimaginative shit.
>>
I'll agree with the others that it feels like a lazy asspull but so far the author has delivered in world building and is pretty good at it, so hopefully it's expanded upon and it stops feeling like the editor told her to rush it the day before.
>>
>>145718288
>lazy asspul
Marcille showed that she knew forbidden shits before in the Golem chapter, though it wasn't directly related to this death metal satanic resurrection ritual she did this chapter.
>>
>>145699046
Well, she recognized her brother and Chilchak, that's something.
>>
>>145718002

They mention that the dungeon has been changing lately.

The mad sorcerer has probably become aware of his adventurer infestation and is starting to take more and more aggressive measurements to get rid off them (multiplying the amount of tpk monsters and sending them to earlier levels).

It's not that he's particularly targeting Laius group or anything, he's just trying to get rid of adventurers because they are starting to get too close to his lair.
>>
>>145718398

Her performing a ressurection with dark magic is in itself a pretty suitatable reveal.

Marcille suddenly popping out dark magic to defeat the dragon would have been an asspull. Marcille performing a resurrection ritual (when raising dead is a super common occurrence and we see it all the time) is not.
>>
>>145711987
Japan does, but I think this author likes to play with preconceived notions more than that, so I hope she has there be an actual reason it's forbidden.

Or, maybe it's more forgotten then forbidden, although then you'd have to wonder why.

...ofcourse...why wouldn't Laius know all about Warg penis bones

Yes but she's not even a lich in the first place. Liches are undead sorcerors that are immortal so long as their phylactery is undamaged but that has nothing to do with marcille
>>

>Laius knowing exactly how many bones wargs have was a little more ridiculous than Marcille knowing some forbidden magic

.. knowing how many bones an animal has and the names of the bones can't really be called weird. If you're a bit interested, you can learn these things fast when you're a kid. I learned a lot of useless knowledge like that when I was a kid.
>>
>>145723898
that's a good point. I mean, I have, but Laius being weirdly obsessed with monsters shouldn't have been surprising at all.

Wait

You're telling me you wouldn't be able to identify at least the majority of a human skeleton?

I can understand not knowing how the carpals fit together, but I'm pretty sure most people would be able to piece together a 90% complete skeleton
>>
>>145724026
It was mostly Marcille doing the work for the human bones, which is also kind of astounding. They even had the bones of the hand labeled, which are apparently kinda difficult to learn the names of.

I was interested by the bits where they commented on how the bones in the joints (ankles, wrists) all apparently snapped or fit together really well. Makes me wonder if Kui has put together a skeleton herself or something.

Here's a question in regard to how magic works in this Universe.

>It's magic i ain't gotta explain shit
and yet
>learning anatomy to be a healer
Would this suggest that part of the magical process in this world is an ability to visualize? e.g. visualizing the entirety of a human muscular-skeletal system in order to guide the magic?
>>
>>145726028
Actually, wikispamming was the most obnoxious thing alongside the Kimmo Alms shit. Let's not forget that virus shit that /g/ made by accident.
>>
>>145683846
I read a bunch of other monthlies to fill the gap. You can read a lot of monthlies for the same time investment that you'd be following weekly manga, and the quality tends to stay higher.
>>
>>145726578
>Would this suggest that part of the magical process in this world is an ability to visualize? e.g. visualizing the entirety of a human muscular-skeletal system in order to guide the magic?
I wonder if when a healer finds a dead body and can't ascertain the cause of death, he won't be able to heal it.
>>

My nigger, I think it'll ruin the manga if the author brought her back half assed. Feels like we'll be cheated from catharsis, bringing her back just to put her down. That's bad since this manga's strong point is comfy times and party synergy. Farlyn's resurrection problems will bring unnecessary drama to dampen that and on top of all that I just want to see what she can bring to the party as more or less improvement.
>>
>>145700887
Hopefully you're still here, I read the other scanlated series long ago so I don't remember well, in which one was it?
>>
>>145728269

I think it'll be something like when she burps after eating, she'll be spewing flames. Everybody looks at her with astounded faces, and she just looks like a question mark because they're looking at her. Also she'll have some other antics, like craving meat and being in high places.

I don't really think it's going to be more side effects of her ressurecting from a dragon corpse with black magic than this. Like you say, if they ressurected the dragon in Farlyn's body instead, it won't be following the light heartedness of the series.
>>
>>145728269
"Catharsis" would be what you get from tragic endings. I think a better word here would be "closure" or "satisfaction."
>>145728463
I think that, if the resurrection DOES go poorly (and I can definitely see it doing so), I think it'll be something like this. I don't dig the "sympathetic dragon" theory anymore, because it's way too speculative, but I definitely think it's possible for Farlyn to come back marred by the ritual while retaining the satisfaction of seeing her alive again. Maybe the best way to fix the problems from the ritual would be to continue on and find the Mad Sorceror. That would tie together the main plot of the story and the story behind the dungeon itself nicely and leave the story open to continue further into the depths of the dungeon. That's what I think.
>>
>>145727279
A mechanic of that kind would be a reasonable way of combining magic and scientific medicine into a single discipline that isn't just
>it's magic i ain't gotta explain shit
I was never a fan of that to be honest.

It would also act as a limiter on a magicians healing abilities since, well, just how much can you visualize before your brain reaches its limit and gets confused/tired?

Think of something you like to eat. Google recipes for it. Not just one, google like five. Most recipes have little details that aren't important (but which make a difference). By going over a few of them, you get a feel for the core features of the dish, and you get ideas for what to use or not use in your own, according to your own tastes. Cook the dish according to the best recipe, ignoring or adding parts from other recipes (or your own creativity, though that might not come in until later) as desired. Taste things as you go along. Once you've got a good feel for the dish, experiment with variations. It won't always work out, but that's okay, it's part of learning and it'll almost never be inedible as long as you remember to use moderation with unfamiliar spices. Once you've got a decent grasp on that dish, pick up another. This should happen after like three or four preparations of the dish in question at most, if you're aiming to learn at maximum efficiency, but don't stop preparing or experimenting with the first dish. Treat the second dish much as you did the first, and then start with a second, then a third, and then a fifth. It won't take too long, relatively speaking, until you can intuitively get a feel for ingredients and come up with novel dishes or variants of dishes as they do in the manga.
