>"I intend to live on for a hundred or a thousand years—in the hearts of my countrymen, in the spirit of Japanese swordsmanship!"
Why has this not been made into an anime series?
Lurk more
anyway, is the manga do the novel justice?

It's not faithful
Wasn't it already made?

No. It's a 1000 page epic, cameos aren't a substitute.

>Making an epic into an anime
Same reason there are so few adaptions of the Odyssey, the ballad of gilgamesh, the full legend of king arthur, the full tales of discworld/middle earth/earthsea. Shit's long yo.
Besides, I think it'd probably count as a bastardisation. While eldritch abominations would find it hilarious that lovercraft's works were turned into 'jump that tsundere dick' the anime, lovecraft is probably spinning in his grave. And if you can't even adapt the yogsothothery, then an epic might a bit overboard.
Also, I don't want musashi porn, for so many reasons. I think the only anime to partially escape rule 34 to an excessive amount is akatsuki no yona for some reason.

The societies belonging to those other epics have no medium comparable to anime- and there have been plenty of long epics done in anime. Also, those examples are hundreds to thousands of years old and would suffer heavily from a modern adaptation because of that. But Musashi is a modern novel.
Also, seinen anime without moe and excessive fanservice generally don't get a lot of porn (not that I would mind)

>let's turn gigantic novels into anime
Remember when Les Misérables got one?
Well it was garbage.

It is, it's called Baki Dou

>comparing random frog drama to one of the most culturally significant works in Japanese history.
Vagabonds pretty good, even if it doesn't strictly follow the novel.
Probably humanizes the character too much, given that it's a story of finding ones self. But still a great character nonetheless

Vagabond has been around for years.

Les Miserables is one of the most culturally significant works in European history. Eat shit.

Because we got a manga instead.

Vagabond>Musashi
Apart from the problems that come with adapting novels into anime, the target audience for anime these days do not care about novel adaptations.
