Re:Zero actually uses the 7 deadly sins for actual symbolism instead of just decoration, so it doesn't really bother me that much.

I know FMA already did the whole 7 deadly sins as villains thing, but in Re:Zero, they're actually conceptiually relevant to Subaru because he can only witness their powers if he either doesn't possess that sin, or is unware that he has it, which works if the point of the show is to put the MC under a microscope.

Justice can be twisted pretty easily. As can Courage. I can see false hope being a tactic used by the Hope villian too. Charity might become like how you described. Prudence would be hard to pull off, as would Temperance (possibly trials to temper the "unworthy"?) Faith would be similar to Hope exect Faith would test your Faith in others to save you or something.
