Well, until now as it is right now it's been pure unfiltered shit because of Subaru. The plotline is intriguing, but the characters are just terrible save Rem, which it was still stupid since she barely reacted to being rejected. The characters feel far from real.

It's not that I disagree, but I'm just really annoyed. I feel no empathy for any of these characters at this point.

It's... really hard to weed out Witch Cult members.
Not only do they have crazy creepy shadow magic (as you saw all of them meld into the ground), but the "witche's scent" cannot be detected even by Reinhardt.

Also, anyone can turn into a cult member one sudden day. Anyone that receives the "gospel" which tells the individual's future path in a cryptic way drives people mad and insane, and makes them want to follow the cult.

The gospel is literally like lovecraftian "Old Gods" whispering to you.
