Weather Report's memories were taken by Pucci, right? And we know from Jotaro that someone who still has their own stand-disc but no memory-disc has a soul and can survive, but has NO memories of any kind, including stuff like how to talk or read. The Speedwagon foundation had to teach Jotaro the basics of communication again, he was pretty much a giant toddler before he got his other disc back.

So what I'm saying is that would him and Weather Report have needed to be toilet-trained again?

Why is the shading in Part 4 anime weaker compared to Part 3? This has been bugging me immensely and it's probably why I think Part 3 looks nicer. There's...less highlights, I think?

I hope so, anon. Speaking as a guy whose favorite character in the series is Dio, I truly hope he doesn't come back. It would invalidate the entire ending of Stone Ocean and the point of Diego's existence.

The ending of Stone Ocean is a beautiful, poetic ending to the original series. It exists to represent the Joestars sacrificing themselves to destroy the evil world (heaven) DIO and Pucci created and with that, reach a new, unknown world where their lives are peaceful. It is DIO's ultimate defeat. After 6 parts, his entire legacy is finally over. It's the destruction of a world corrupted by him to reach a new, wonderful world.

Having DIO return in any sort of significant role whatsoever would take this and throw it in the trash. It would bring him back from the dead for the sake of stupid fanservice. His story, and the stories of the Joestars who fought agaisnt him, is over. Now it's time for a new story.

This isn't really a proper comparison, we only got scenes like this for Ratt and Tonio episode. Diego in itself also furthers Araki finally killing off Dio for good. Diego is an reinterpretation of Dio and an almost completely different character, and he and his counterpart give Dio two actual goodbyes (since the ending of SO was more about Pucci).

The first Diego completes what Araki was doing with Dio in his re-telling of PB through SBR. He humanizes Dio and strips him of his immortal ambitions and nemesis, focusing more on the class struggle he had as a human. He sorta achieves his "redemption" and dies thinking he finally, finally won.

The 2nd Diego is Araki rewarding the viewers, and himself, with one last moment of DIO showing off before he retires the character. He has all the catchphrases, a very cruel personality, the same abilities, and he actually defeats the JoJo of the part he's in. It's one last goodbye to the character.

I dunno, Satan. While the new universe is definitely an unknown, I like to think that it won't be some bed of roses.

Given the repetitive nature of universes in the JoJoverse (Everyone looks basically the same as their old counterparts, and has similar personalities and relationships with each other) and the fact that Dio was killed long before MIH activated and thus presumably was reborn as himself rather than an alternate, I'd imagine that there was still plenty of conflict and grief, and the Joestars were probably still central to it. Jotworo probably killed DIO, Josuke and co would've still had issues with Kira, Giorno's gangster crew probably still fought Diavolo, etc.

Isn't it just Pucci's influence that was wiped away, rather than DIO's? So that's why the ending focuses entirely on the Stone Ocean crew, who were the only ones who were ensnared in it, rather than any other people who would've led utterly different lives if DIO had been erased entirely.

Fate is probably the single strongest thing in the JoJoverse, and that extends to when the entire universe is reset. I imagine that the Joestars are always fated to lives filled with weirdness and conflict, but that they can make the most of them anyway.

The repetitive nature of said universes does not apply to the Ireneverse the same way it was supposed to apply to Pucci's universe. In Pucci's new universe, all the events had played out the same way and the characters looked similar but werent really the same (hence why Emporio saw Johntaro Cena and Jyullene). The Ireneverse is supposed to be the opposite of that, the characters look different and led different lives but their spirits are there.

And since Irene and her dad have a normal, stable relationship, you can presume that the new Jotaro never had to spend his adult life chasing Stand users and stamping out DIO's influence. And if DIO's influence did not exist, it's possible DIO himself didn't. There 's nothing in the Ireneverse to suggest that he did exist (although there's nothing to suggest he didn't).

Araki probably had more plans for SO since it's known he wanted it to be much longer but he had to rush the final 10 chapters because his editors came to him saying he had to wrap it up in 10 more chapters so the final 10 we got were the Made in Heaven fight and the final chapter. Araki probably wanted that fight to be MUCH longer than it was, and there was even a teaser in one chapter saying Giorno may already be somewhere in Florida. We'll never know what Araki's original plan for the last stretch of SO was but I still think the universe reset would be there just much less sudden.

I guess we can agree to disagree. I just like the idea and theme of the Joestars never being able to break a fate of conflict and stand-shit, but having the chance to be a little happier anyway.

That's a valid point, but Pucci wasn't the only disciple of DIO left after his death.

But then again, all the other Joestars had happy endings regardless of which villain they faced (except Jonathan and even then he had no problems sacrificing himself) so the idea that they would face the same villains in the new universe and come out on top (with probably less people dying in the new universe) is probably correct.

Ireneverse is purposefully vague and full of things left open to interpretation so all we can really do is guess what could have happened.

Milagro is a Japanese brand of wallet so my guess is he loans his wallet out to people and they buy what they want and because of whatever his Stand is they keep getting their money back plus interest so they buy whatever they want for free and the interest they accrue is payment for the Milagro Man himself. Obviously there's more rules to it that we don't know since business owners like the cabaret club owner know about how it works and that they had to give him his money plus interest back. The Otaku buying Rena Nanami stuff at the beginning was the guy currently using the wallet and was going to get all his idol stuff for free until Joshuu stole it and most likely transferred the Stand ability over to him, but by not knowing the rules he's going to have figure out what's going on and survive whatever the Stand does to rule breakers.

I'm pretty sure the rules apply to the shopkeepers as well, so even if they're aware of the Milagro Man they either are forced to pay against their control or if they don't play along the Stand kills them or does some other nasty shit. Nah it was just early on since it was around the 25th anniversary and he had heaps of other stuff going on around then so he couldn't physically do all of it while still doing a full chapter a month. Probably. I like every Part more on a reread than I did the first time so it's definitely worth it. Part 5's new translation is good but only halfway through, though what's there improves it 100 times over. I read Part 5 in Italian and what you Englishfriends have to suffer through for 5 is criminal, it's like reading an inaccurate sparknotes summary of VA and not VA itself.

Joshuu keeps getting money throughout the chapter, but doesn't get the things he wants. Not the watch, or the meal, or the figure or the idol merch. He does see the movie and enjoys the club without problems though, at least up until he gets the figure or has to pay his bill.
Every time he gets money something gets "fucked up". He tosses the wallet away, destroys the credit card, the watch is scratched, his meal is ruined, he fights the goons...
Every shop or restaurant where he goes after getting the wallet grants him free cash one way or the other. It is unclear whether the all the owners know about the milagro man and respect a rule to get rid of its effect or if they are compelled to play into it even if they don't know about it, maybe it's both.

I'm not sure if all of this makes sense, but there's definitely a pattern here. I assume if he refuses to get free money things will go bad, and he won't be able to buy anything he wants since it only ends up with more money for him.

To be fair to Kira it was because he was super stressed out about leaving evidence behind when he started killing, his first victim was Reimi and if her story is true then he did a piss poor job 'erasing' the evidence. He was so stressed the Arrow came to him on it's own and gave him KQ, so his will was there he just needed a catalyst. It's the same reason he got BtD, he was so stressed that the Arrow went to him on it's own a second time.

It was a pattern he cut into their back like a calling card. A lot of serial killers irl have their own quirks and things they leave to 'sing' a body if they're doing it for fame, but after a while Kira realised that he didn't want to attract attention and instead do the opposite which is part of what stressed him out since his first few murders stressed him out so much and when he got KQ he could atomise his victims and avoid the temptation of signing their bodies. They were still babies or toddlers when Part 6 started but part of the reason he decided to do a female lead was because he wanted to write the kind of character he thought they'd like to read about, which is why he made her sort of punkish like the last few male leads he'd had because he's always been big on gender equality but his work up until that point had been mostly male driven because he thought he was garbage at writing female characters so he didn't try. Being a parent makes you reevaluate things and he decided it was more important to write the kind of character his daughters and other young girls would like (when they're older of course) to read about. And we got Jolyne and all the good female characters from 6, 7 and 8 out of it.

When he finally sat down and put some effort into it he learned that he wasn't bad at writing female characters it's just that he didn't have enough life experience since he was awkward when he was younger and didn't talk to many women. Yeah it's nice that he figured out that good female characters aren't really hard to write at all, you just have to keep silly gender notions out of your mind and focus on what makes a character great.

Going back to Lisa Lisa, BT puts so much emphasis on "she's strong despite being a woman!" that it makes it more disappointing when she jobs and does nothing to help overall. When, with someone like Jolyne who was conceived with the goal of making a good female JoJo in mind, the characters hardly draw attention to her gender at all.

Part of the reason why Lucy is my favorite JoJo female character is because she isn't really a fighter and she's the most normal person and her struggle revolves around her husband, but her story isn't really romantic, she is the emotionally stable person of the marriage and she lives through a lot of horrible shit and comes out stronger in the end. She's as far from the "stronk womyn" archetype as you can possibly get but her strength of character is extremely admirable.

Pretty much. Acting as though writing female characters is an intimidating task is a self-fulfilling prophecy, and is likely to end up in cases like Lisa Lisa.

In most cases, a decent characters gender could probably be changed without many major changes to the story, because their gender shouldn't be the basis of them. Like if Abbacchio was some bitchy former policewoman then I can't see much changing story-wise other than her having a harder time pissing in Giorno's tea.
