Anyway, the main problem about QC isn't only about being a cashgrab that hinges on notable names. It's hinging on said names and thinking that it's the only thing they need. The lack of an established QC fanbase due to releasing the anime before all of the Speakeasy LNs could reach a sizable chunk of the story also hurts the anime.

Classroom Crisis had roughly the same problem, and both shows will only suffer the same fate. If the anime is shit, who would bother with the LNs?

The first episode was pretty bad desu senpai. There's this ominous end of the world setting but all of the 2COORU4U characters have their heads stuck inside their asses the entire time except the obligatory moeblob and the genki. Then somehow the show thinks it's being clever when it subverts the trope of the ranking system when that just further validates the shitty world building behind it.

Banter wasn't even that good, it was just edgy stuck-up brats trying to fuck with each other in a battle where someone can actually get fucked for the sake of prefecture shitflinging on the side of the authors. Another thing was that the concept of World is a mystery to its users, and the secretary had that "knows a lot of things" look in her at the end of the episode.

There's also how the Unknown show up in the middle of the sky despite having aerial superiority. The sky could be false and the surrounding Tokyo is still a smoldering wreck, but it doesn't make sense that they show up in front of the "false sky".

It was an interesting story. Was written by the two authors handling different characters and perspectives. Haruma was a bit too similar to Hachiman I thought, but Yu was legit insane. Like holy shit, an extortionist narcissist is so fucking painful to read, but at the same time I couldn't stop reading. Like her perspective was insanely delusional, where she's constantly blackmailing and extorting people, while in her own thoughts she thinks she's just being friendly and kind. She's a character that I can almost guarantee you will hate.

It's a mostly character driven story, though in a sense it seems to tie in the rivalry between Tokyo head and Chiba subhead, as well as implies that the Chiba two are the kids of these characters.

I've watched all three, and yeah, QC seems to be avoiding that. Hundred was your typical run-of-the-mill battle harem show while Asterisk was strictly about kids beating each other tourney-style. Rakudai was like a romcom in some cases and the watching experience was improved by the SHAFT-like approach in some scenes. QC does have the student rankings, but it does keep everyone on their toes else lose the perks of their respective ranking.
