Those wasted episodes were about giving a little more information on the setting (witch and dragon stories, magic affinities, mana) and Subaru learning base skills related to those (reading, using a basic spell). They were also about building his bond with the mansion characters and Subaru getting some sort of place in this new world.

A mystery in-story doesn't need to be a mystery for the viewer to solve, that's a whole separate genre. And for those who say the mystery was obvious and Subaru was dumb, Subaru doesn't have a director showing him what the relevant scenes in his days are by giving them focus while foregoing any irrelevant moments. The fact there's different culprits in different loops would also obviously distract him.
The fact it was the dog who cursed him was hardly even presented as surprising. If anything, it's relevant for what it implies about other events down the line.
When it comes down to it it was a character driven arc and I feel like it made a pretty good job using the loop mechanic and Subaru's different courses of action to set up the twins. Scenes that show us more about new characters and create a bond between them and the MC are hardly what I'd call irrelevant. Personally, I like it when a show can afford to take things at a slower pacing just so these sort of scenes can be included. It's otherwise hard for me to actually care about what I'm watching.

Ok now hear me out here, you could say it's forced to an extent, but that's how the direction goes in order to try showcase the reason for his anger. He was in a state of shock, and everything here was his wake up call of sorts, could you consider it bad since he doesn't just willingly give up his life when he knows he has this skill? Sure, but the idea is that the events still hit him hard because he truly cares about then.

If he nonchalantly killed himself every time something didn't go his way it would be fairly boring too, i mean it would be even more uneventful and everyone would probably complain about that instead. Basically you can't please everyone, and this is clearly not everyone's cup of tea, but if what's bugging everyone was changed, others could not enjoy it as well. The drama is a way to set up the atmosphere, and finally snap him back into reality "hey, stop being a sack of shit and move forward, you have a power, so use it to fix things".

Not sure if you all agree, but that's how i see it at least.

People who go through traumatic events experience fairly painful flashes of what they saw that scarred then if it's that bad. So even if he can go back, he still remembers all of it.

The closest he got previously was when he got depressed thinking the maids were heartless in arc 2 and never trusted him once and were responsible for his death all the other times, until he finds Rem dead in her bed and realizes there is something strange going on.
