I don't think you understand how pacing works, or just how much longer SBR is than SDC.

Until we got to DIO's World we pretty much saw every single panel adapted, with the DIO's World pace it was fucking shit because we weren't even given time to absorb anything before the next badly scribbled event was thrown at us.

If you went through SBR the same way it'd have to go even faster than DIO's World, it would be ridiculous.

Anime and manga are all about establishing shots and setting and atmosphere, Steel Ball Run more than any other part of JoJo, too.

And fucking loads happens in it.

I really loved some of early SBR, especially the first sprint, but it was pretty weak honestly

Boom Boom Family was actually a great fight, and way shorter than people remember, as was the fly one, really intense. The cameos barely mattered for the reason you gave, why would you get hung up on them? At that point it was something different, they were nods to what went before.

The start of SBR is honestly my favourite sequence of JoJo, all the shit with the race and Gyro's personality was just great. Most of the lessons are really early on too.

The art was pretty great at the start, just not anywhere near as good as it would become once things went monthly.

Why does characters "going anywhere at all" matter anyway? It's such a weirdly autistic complaint some people make, as if the quality of a character is to do with how many epic kills they get or how much they contribute to the protagonist winning. What matters is that the characters were compelling in the first place.
