To the guy who made the third revision of the autoscroll HTML: thank you. I made the second revision but all I added was cosmetic stuff, you really made it nice and professional. The character and line counter in particular is brilliant. My only complaint would be that the default character brightness is way too dim.

What do i do so that Kanji will sink in my brain?

Got 83% today. It was a nice surprise after my 70% yesterday. Still consistently 50-60% on mature cards. My memory is usually pretty good, but this mining deck is too hard.

Even though I'm still relying on subs for maybe half of the dialogue, picking up on things like this that I didn't pick up on at all the first time through as an EOP makes me glad I took up the quest of becoming a thousand-times-folded nihongo master.

it's a given that there's going to be something lost in translation when you sub a japanese cartoon in english, so anyone with common sense should be able to figure out what's really going on if you give them a hint

I don't actually know what those buzzwords mean, but it's what I've heard often enough to start parroting it. Personally Tae Kim worked fine for me, but a lot of people struggle with his way of explaining, although I find it pretty clean and straightforward.
Remember, your grammar guide isn't there to teach you grammar to perfection, it's just there to give you a rough idea of it. You won't have a solid hang of things until a couple dozen hours of reading in.

You'll find that 明後日 is also written in kana sometimes, so if you don't know the pronunciation you won't know what it means in those cases.
Also I personally find it a lot easier to remember what a word means when I can "say" it.

You have to spend at least an hour reading each day; ideally you want to read the same thing (like a manga chapter) over and over again until the kanji is drilled in. Keep notebooks next to you and write them down 50 times while reciting the pronunciation and keeping the meaning in mind. Do this every time you forget one.

You want to be reading things that have common kanji before branching into niche genres with useless kanji. Also, Anki is just a meme, I wouldn't bother using it unless you're in the third year of a Japanese degree and have now realised you don't actually know Japanese.
