Meh. 6/10. I should be disappointed but I feel nothing. All shows I was watching ended being an utter disappointment, but honestly Kabaneri was just nothing. Promising first episode and nice visuals. Not a single character I particularly like and Ikoma could've died and I wouldn't think differently.

Man, it's a true disappointment how good this show could have been. Even thought it was a blatant SnK clone, I still enjoyed it. All those episodes on the train, to the arrival in a a new city were so interesting. I really connected with the characters and enjoyed the kabane too. It was a lot of fun seeing a story not be bound to one location and have the characters actively explore the world. Then, as first as we entered the Biba plot, the show because so much about muh "humans are the real enemy" plot. Biba was such a bad character as well, was he supposed to be like GRiffith or something. I had no idea why he even turned evil or how he gained all his resources. I didn't care to see it explained though and apparently, neither did the show. The first 5 episodes or so were GOAT, but damn it got boring.

the biggest issue with this show is that they didn't spend enough time fleshing out the main characters, especially Biba. I feel that if they told the same story over two seasons, the finale would have had much more impact. There just wasn't enough tension. Also, Ikoman's berserk mode was disappointing. When a main character achieves some unstable level of power like that, it's supposed to be cathartic. I didn't feel any sort of catharsis watching Ikoma kill a bunch of guys and blow up trains so apathetically.

Why are the reactions to this so polarized? I don't think it was a 10/10 show like some anons but it's really not worth all the hate either. The only real flaws were Biba's vague motives, some wasted characters and maybe a few issues with the progression. The setting was excellent, the visuals were pretty good and had a nice style, soundtrack was decent and most of the character designs and voice actors served their purpose well enough. Ikoma surviving felt a little hamfisted but I guess they wanted to end on a positive note and leave open the possibility of a 2nd season.

I just saw the Episode and well....that felt very underwhelming i don't how to feel about it. Ikoma's fight with Biba wasn't that great, Mumei survived, Ikoma survived, only one who died was Takumi, the bad guy turns good, and a lot of other stupid shit happened but at least it was a happy ending i guess. Overall an OK Show. Now we wait for Season 2
