That's because the DM anime follows the rules of the original manga which differ from Konami's rules. You watch DM duels for the SYMBOLISM and complete disregard for realism. There are some legitimately well written duels though and of course the best duel in the entire franchise is still Atem vs Yugi.

I guess, but Konami had the opportunity to make Rituals great in Arc-V and it decided to screw it up. Mieru chasing Yuya is very representative of what Rituals mean in Arc-V. Konami basically said "fuck you" to Rituals.

Also Nekroz doesn't mean shit, give us a permanent form of ritual unbricking and put Rituals on par with at least Fusions.

Well, Konami are already fucking up with a lot of things, even worse than Capcom, and that says a lot, so this type of things are not a surprise and I seriously don't expect anythings else than a few retrains.
I do expect good support, besides Ritual Sanctuary and Pre-Preparation of Rites being really amazing cards, I think that Urgent Ritual Art can be useful for a few Rituals out there, not everyone but yes a few of them.

Is Yuya the only protagonist whose deck does a really good job of showcasing it's marketed ability? I've rarely fought a performapal deck, a deck that doesn't outside assistance like performages or dracoslayer cards, that didn't have it's scales up in it's first turn. It's amazing. Yeah, Synchrons weakness is that they got power gapped Yusei's old tricks no longer work due to them being so slow if you synchro summon in that deck odds are you'll eat through your entire hand or field to do it. Then there's Yuma, they really restricted his cards out the ass, you either lose your battle phase, you either cannot special summon for the rest of the turn and he doesn't have any draw engine or cards that allow him to draw without a cost. No wonder he spammed so many traps. On top of that even the xyz monsters he did summon that weren't Utopia had restrictions on them, the djinns were rank 3 and I think 2 of them were worthless against non-xyz monsters, One Eyed Skill Gainer was especially useless despite it's cost and even through by the rules of the anime all Numbers are far game for Yuma his deck can only make use out of a select few. It's a very Red Mage like deck even when you're only running Gagagas.

Arc-V anime was a mistake. Yuzu is fucking boring so much that they replaced her with a supeior girl then when they realized they would get bored of her too they threw her off screen before she lost anymore appeal. Yuya's an actual interesting character in the manga, Sawatari is running a real archetype, Sora's actually a threat and Shun is not taken seriously at all. But, the only way the manga will truly be superior is if Yuya has extra deck pendulums that are not only good but work together and don't need outrageous summoning requirements like Nirvana High and Odd Rebellion do.

My personal favorite is mary sue Yugo getting BTFO by not only his hot headed stupidty coming back to bite him but his dragon being shit instead of the I win button it is in the anime. Here's to hoping Yuri gets used far more then Yuto and Yugo do.

The manga is less reserved about pushing some characters to make them more over-the-top and theatrical (which is fine imo, since Shun is hilarious), and the cast isn't nearly as bloated. But there's little chance it will able to attain the kind of scope the anime has (not that the anime takes advantage of it that well, anyway). Probably jumping the gun to call it superior already, though.

Although, not getting assaulted by shitty drawings like half the time is another plus of the manga.
