I don't think the Chinese/Squad 4 are going to be portrayed as bad guys anymore. All the misdoings were done by Rome/the Newtons, and the Chinese squad essentially had redemption before leaving Mars. We also see Jet in the big, colored spread at the beginning of part 3, so we know they're all alive still.

Really surprised they cut that line out, it made his backstory so much staler and without the manic intensity of how the manga did it (just from memory when I'd first read it.)

It's really sad when S2's directing is many steps down from the first. I imagined that it'd at least be able to get by on the strength of the content it was adapting and the (supposedly) better production and animation, but we haven't even had that, apart from them deciding to finally put in some decent animation in the OP like ten episodes in. Really disappointing.

Then again, the S1 OVAs left out Thien bible quotes and S1 itself decided to cut out some nice gags as well so maybe I'm being unfair.

I mean the only issue is that they have to try and work the Chinese back into the story, I mean it was technically the Chinese government that where trying to eliminate everyone so there's a possibility they'll be forced to fight against Japan.

However the possibility of China coming and being a good guy would be so strange with Sasuga at the wheel, however this new arc is a really strange direction as it was such a huge jump but in itself but its not "wrong".

I only read the TL's because I'm that much of a fag, but from what I understand Johj in themselves are trying to discover how humans in a community work. A probable reason why they where grouped up, hell if I know.

The S2 directing is really bad, the way how they try and break some of the scenes up with comedy is really tragic in just execution. They done stag bro quite well though expressing how desperate they where to achieve a cure, hopefully they can salvage something from this final episode to show how the narwhal is a boss and tease the fight between Joe and Liu
