Is it a remake? Or is it a new adaptation?
If it's the former, it will never be as good. They won't adhere to the same style that the 80s adaptation did.

If it's a new adaptation, maybe. Either way it's extremely likely to shave loads off of in order to make it all fit in a smaller package.

I don't have examples ready but the newer DVD scenes they did are already stylistically blander. Expect the remake to be that but with CG ships and really really bad washed out digital colors

It's easy to criticize LOGH for its limited animation & art and I do it all the time but the old vs new comparison really highlights the advantages of the old art

This is early digital-era anime. Don't look at this and expect that an anime in the year 2017 will look at all like that. Especially from production I.G., their art direction's not amazing but they're nowhere near that bad.

Barring shitty CG animation, I expect the actual 2D stuff to look better than the old OVA series.

A lot of early digital coloring was horrible but some of it was good. FLCL, Fullmetal Alchemist (ignoring Milos old FMA had better colors than Brotherhood), SoulTaker. I think the trend of making everything washed out or muddy is a bigger problem these days than people not knowing how to utilize a color wheel.

LoGH is visually unimpressive as is, take it off that pedestal and realize that unless they drastically change the content and character designs it could easily be an improvement. The animation, art and direction were all mediocre and could be much better.
