He can't read Aqua because of her aura, and her strength as a Goddess, they are evenly matched as shown by their fights. It's just Aqua's aura makes it so that he can't read the minds of anyone near her, hence why he mentioned how he couldn't figure out where the "masked thieves" were. Since Kazuma was purposely hanging around Aqua as much as he could to avoid Vanir's clairvoyance.

Long story short, Wiz used to belong to an adventurer party, they challenged Vanir but couldn't win. When to shit when they tried to defeat Beldia and ate the 7 day curse.

Wiz challenged Vanir, tried beating him with all her strength so she can be considered an equal and thus worthy enough to make a pact with a ranked devil like Vanir, but Vanir instead taught her how to be a lich. He also mentioned something about explosion spell.

After that Wiz solo'd Beldia, slime and jelly to free her friends' curse and to thank Vanir as you can see in this pic.

Years later her adventurer friends came to visit Wiz and brought along their kid, which the picture you see where Wiz hugs a little girl.


There's actually a lot more interesting stuff going on like how Aqua likes Wiz enough and promises to apologize with her when Wiz dies and meets Eris so Eris lets Wiz reborn. Unlikely since Wiz is an immortal and ungodly strong.
