The OS will always be far better than the XY series.

XY is garbage because Ash has been completely exhausted as a character. He's gone through every single character arc a character like him can go through, yet they still have him go through the same old crap because it's all they can do and the audience don't know any better.

OS Ash had an air of freshness within him, and had genuine development. We can feel his emotions as he grows as a trainer and makes difficult decisions, which makes for a more emotionally engaging experience. People who say the OS was shit because Ash was a bad trainer who lost his battles are basically idiots and underagers who eat anything up so long as it looks pretty.
