We know that Hisoka's always wanted to fight him but the last time that plot thread was relevant was ages ago. The timing is very awkward. If it had happened shortly after the end of Greed Island, when Hisoka had Abengane remove Chrollo's Nen seal, it would be one thing, but now? In the middle of a (seemingly thus far) completely unrelated arc with no semblance of a proper transition or connection to anything else? I find it a very questionable decision on Togashi's part, and I can only hope he's not trying to tie up this loose end just for the sake of being done with it. There's got to be some purpose this fight serves within the big picture, and it's hard to enjoy it without being given any hint of what that is. But yes, it's probably better not to worry about that for now and simply enjoy what we do get, since we don't get it very often.
