I'd agree that Sakura isn't just a victim, she became an aggressor, that was one of the points raised in Hollow in Rider's story for why Medusa was able to be summoned by her, that Sakura was in danger of losing herself and becoming a monster. Of course though, the reason why Medusa says she loves Sakura is because she tries to take what happiness she could, despite the fact it's anything but normal, something Medusa, who used to love humans, forgot. That is something I hope they put into the movie if they add anything.

However, to say she used her past to snap at others would be false and would be painting her all black, because it implies her pain is pretense and false, and that she doesn't have the right to be angry, or have times of weakness. It also ignores the issues with Angra Mainyu that willpower alone wouldn't have prevented. Heck, Zouken trolled her on top of her deteriorating body and mind because she was so resilient.

See, in trying to defend Sakura fully, one can lose sight if the fact that she has malevolence and bitterness in her heart, but exaggerating that bitterness and not acknowledging her empathy for others or the gravity of how screwy the situation got and her sanctity of body and mind is just as bad, it's not genuine acceptance of who she is as a character.

Even as a guy who is all about Shirou/Sakura, I think you are exaggerating a tad.

Though it is nice that Shirou straight up tells her she is his partner. I kind of want a small side story of that "what-if" story of them protecting Fuyuki as kids and having a hotblooded battle with local gang leader Rin. It would be adorable.
